The good news is that you can access the commercial forums and download the latest version. There are also instructions there on how to access the details of your Octane Live account by logging in at the refractive software homepage. You'll need these when you run Octane for the first time.
Hi, Morat and everybody!
I ordered on Saturday and figure as licensed customer alright -- but no mail yet. Now I just downloaded version beta 2.2b stable from the forum.
Do I need to uninstall the demo version first?
How can I get to my live account and find the necessary information to activate the software?

Just found the customer login on the home page + the customer account. Under live account it says: no live account found.
The invoice is there, marked as paid.
Hmmm, waiting for the mystery to unfold...
and finally: dadaaah! render!

If you are a licensed customer now (the forum panel says you are) you should be able to download pre2.3v5 which is the latest from the Release Candidate Forum. This version requires an internet connection at startup ie OctaneLive account and activation. The Demo doesnt need an active account. You can leave 2.2 installed if you like but you probably dont need it. BTW 2.3v5 needs a driver that is cuda 3.1 whereas 2.2 was cuda 3.0.
If you have retrieved your account details from the Customer Area login on the Refractive home page once you open Octane for the first time (you must allow an internet connection) you can enter them in the license fields and activation will follow - btw you cant copy and paste

Hi
In reading your link it says for Beta 2.2 you can automatically get your activation key (???)
I sent through an email about 24 hours ago with my machine ID.. was this not the right thing to do? I still havent got a reply.. Sorry to be a pain, I havent managed to get a commercial version started as it asks for an activation key.. How do I get this key in my 'live account' section??

Just got the version 2.3 v 5 you suggested.
Thank you, Radiance, I read the thread you indicated.
Still when I type in either my forum name or my real name from the customer account + password, I just get a message box:
"Invalid OctaneLive account or wrong account / password combination."
I am aware that everything is case sensitive. I also sent a mail to "license@" with the machine code for version beta 2.2 asking for the activation code...
Please help!

Hi,
I am sorry you have this ongoing trouble
I cant exactly remember how it is now when you first activate but you should be presented with an input field when you first launch Octane. Use your OctaneLive User ID and the generated password.
These are found when you login to the Refractive homepage with your forum name and password.
Initially you have your account details showing with address etc but click on the Octane Live Accounts heading (black lettering) next to where it says logout and you should see them.

under "OctaneLive Accounts" I just get this message:
No octane live account found. If this is incorrect, please contact us via email at
[email protected]
Please use the username and password from an OctaneLive license to activate it on a computer. Once the license is activated, it cannot be used on another machine until it is deactivated. You can deactivate a license in the OctaneLive account preference panel of the software, or in this customer area. You may use only one license at a time on one machine, and you must wait one hour between deactivating and reactivating a license between machines.
but under purchases and invoices the invoice is there and marked paid...
i already wrote the mail on Saturday...

futile though that can be at times - like now
Honestly I am about ready to throw things at this point.
It seems a few people have this. Why? I dont know.
Its really up to Refractive to sort it out once and for all.
People shouldnt have to go around in circles to get started.
If you already sent an email on Sat well I guess you just have to wait for someone to deal with it...new office hours included.
Sorry for the hassle. I can appreciate how it must be.

Cant say the community dont try to assist others though.
I think I'll give up on this one and let Refractive answer for their own doings or lack of.
