Can you already confirm if there is a plan on the pricing scheme for upgrades for existing users?
Yes, there will be an upgrade price which is lower than buying new licenses. Details are still being finalized.
Also, how is the version 2.0 going to behave with existing (older) scene files, and with existing plugins?
We didn't introduce the versioning for nothing ;) We try to keep things compatible in both directions as much as possible.
Thank you, that's fantastic!

I second that, it would be a very welcome addition

Otoy, please don't speak with Mr. Zuckerberg about this new Octane release...

Congratulations for taking the Octane render huge steps in the right direction. I am already stunned by what Octane render can do, and after trying a few alternatives I realized that Octane was best by far. The results out of the box are second to none, and from there it’s just up to your own skills and imagination. The Lamborghini test drive from Niuq Cam is a perfect example on the endless possibilities:

I'm sure a few of the posters who were screaming and complaining about the lack of features in the 1.50 release must have a bad taste in their mouth..

Knowing the somewhat close cooperation between Otoy, Autodesk and Nvidia - I am convinced that these guys DO know what the market is looking for and HOW they are going to meet it. Otoy have a magic product, and I don't blame them for not revealing the roadmap to their customers (and competitors.)

Otoy struck gold, and my best guess would be that they need to secure the ore. This includes making new strategic partnerships to further expand the use of the technology, WHILE also developing the products. As customers, we should not scream for attention to our short term needs, if they implement undo's or other features at this time. What these guys are working on are so much bigger than that, and it will be a game changer for computer graphics the way we knew it.

I'm still shaking of excitement, but I'm trying to be calm and ask a few questions:

Displacement mapping
Is it Raster displacement or Vector displacement?

Hair and fur
Is it a proprietary system that must be created inside Octane, or can I import my hair curves from Maya/Max?
Is it compatible with Alembic animation?

Network rendering
How is the memory handled from the network? For example, I have a bunch of PCs, all with different cards, some with 1.5GB, some with 2GB, some with 4GB, is the memory gonna be picked up from the card with lowest memory?
Will the slaves require an Octane license on each machine?

OpenSubDiv
Is this gonna be available for Alembic file as well?

and

will CTR+Z be implemented?
will multiple monitor support be implemented?

Anyway, I'M SO FREAKING EXCITED!!!!
