That is a 4king impressive work you got there.
hi tonysculptor, do you mind sharing your skin shader? does it work for the 3ds max plugin version?tonysculptor wrote:Great job! And the skin looks pretty good too.
These are amazing!!!! Great Job!! are you using the standalone version or a plugin for Octane?ElBloko wrote:Hi everyone. Thank you for the kind words.
Your shader was a fantastic help. I had been scratching my head for weeks without much success before that. I modified it quite heavily and included a couple extra layers to simulate the otjize (the red paste Himba people cover their skin and hair with) layer. I always marvel at how robust the shader ends up being under most lighting conditions.tonysculptor wrote:Re: Shades of Dambu

Sure! I suppose I can try. I'm not sure what you would like to see though. Do you have examples or guidelines of what you'd consider interesting?Rikk The Gaijin wrote:Stunning image! I would love to see the breakdown of it, congratulations!
I'm not sure I understand the purpose of it. Could you elaborate? I tend to steer away from the daylight illumination model as I find it offers very little ambient depth. I did several iterations of the original layout with daylight without much success. I ended up switching over to a homemade HDR pano and a couple reflectors to push more light from below.MaTtY631990 wrote:Would love to see some daylight lit pics.
Anyways, as promised, I rendered a few close ups. I thought I'd share.

Oh, you! All of you! You're gonna make me blush. Thank you.xxdanbrowne wrote:You've hit all the nails in terms of art: form, composition, mood etc and to be honest it's an absolutely fabulous piece: bravo!
One question I have: the detail work such as the wrinkles and skin pores etc - is that geometry or normal maps/bump maps?

The detail work on her skin is a combination of all those three things. I feed several normal maps and bump maps on different shader layers. The head model being fed to the engine is fairly low resolution, 1.2 million verts (see below.) The normals maps and bump maps (derived from normals and mixed with procedural textures) do the rest of the job.
