Hey Aoktar: I use both for rendering but the machine does nothing else... so there are no demands on it bar Cinema and Octane...
I'll give it a try especially minimizing the memory used in scene but I'm loath to lose one render card
I'm not positive but when It seems to be rendering a frame slowly- If I minimize and then maximize the picture view it *seems* to kick it back into life? I'm probably imagining it but it does seem to work

I thought there might be something going on with the screensaver or some idle mode my machine is slipping into. That's why they are so spaced apart...?
No idea, will let you know what I find...
Cheers!
Poke

Pokeit, i'm not sure but trying to understand your problem. I have only idea it can be a problem about peek memory usage on gpus. First gpu also is used for system and C4D opengl. This can cause very big slowdowns. This is similar situation as you reach memory limits on windows system.
My advice is for resolve problem that's not permanent advice for this moment

Excuse me for asking but haven't had a chance to install yet...
Can you insert a background image like the standalone can....can you do this already by other means?
It would be really usefull to get the look right for compositing set extensions etc.
Craig.

Right so I was able to minimize the memory use in my scene down to 728/558/1535MB and it's now a rock solid 1' 42" per frame...
Time to buy those 2 Titans I think

there is a uncompleted workaround for that. Background and foreground objects. But yet working on liveviewer only. If you put a standart material to background/foreground objects you can see pngs with alpha over rendered images. But this is not completed feature. Maybe usefull to setup some scenes.
for next versions this will be improved.
Pokeit: titans or 780's are great choice for speed and space. But you can try to use some textures as grayscale(float) images. This can make sense, you can follow ram usage in info line. This is similar 1230/25/1296. usedmem/freemem/totalmem. Others shows texture limits of gpus

Thanks Aoktar, I'll check out those suggestions... Right in the middle of a job at the moment but once it's done I think Titans is the way to go. What would be your advice? 2 Titans or 2 780's?

If budgets is not a matter titans better because speed different %20-30 and has 6gb ram. Otherwise 780s is not so worst, but has 3gb ram

Budgets always matter

But I think Titans are the way to go- My next job is looking like a lot of particles/instances with x-particles 2. And I think 100,000 instances may need some memory thrown at it no?

instancing not occupy lot of ram. meshes and textures eating much more. 100,000 or 1,000,000 makes little differents on ram usage.

Got to say, now the installer is fixed up, this seems to be a really solid release.
Problem with using a core all the time is gone, everything seems to work well, priority settings for the GPU work really well (gret for people like me with a single card).
Congratulations.
