More problems. Poser 2012. 1.17a6 plugin.Render target, Load from Default is greyed out.
Also, if I change the lights in Poser 2012, and refresh the scene in Octane, it does not change the light setup, more specifically, the IBL light. Example, Poser 2012 light IBL/AO called "road and sky", In Poser changed it to "Sun Right", and in Octane hit the refresh button (circle with arrow) and does not update the setting Octane.

That means the plugin has not been installed. What folders do you have under "C:\Program Files\Smith Micro\Poser Pro 2014\Runtime\Python\addons\" (assuming you installed Poser Pro 2014 to C:\Program Files\Smith Micro\Poser Pro 2014).
Render target, Load from Default is greyed out.
That means you have not previously saved a rendertarget as the default.

The IBL light is considered a material by Poser, and the IBL texturemap is attached as a material. As with all materials, if you change them in Poser, the plugin will not automatically bring them across (because you may not want that to happen). It is easier to simply load "Sun Right" into the "image" node of the "environment" in the plugin Settings tab. Or, load it into the Poser IBL material, then click on the image selection button of the environment "image" node in the plugin, and select the IBL from the Poser textures (in the Poser Image Files dropdown).

Here are 2 screenshots. One of the addons folder, and another inside the octane folder.
Poser 2014 resides just under Poser 2012 in the Poser folder in programs. Again, no Octane.dat file in the Poser 2014 folder.

Very strange. The file __init__.pyc will either add the OctaneRender menu item to the Poser menu, or give a warning. If it is doing neither (and not producing an octaneplugin.log file), then Poser is not running it. That means either the Poser 2014 exe (PoserPro.exe) that you are running is not in the parent directory of where the plugin is installer, OR the Poser 2014 installation has not run correctly.
May I suggest....
1) Re-install Poser Pro 2014 (install into the default C:\Program Files\Smith Micro\Poser Pro 2014 Location)
2) Re-install the latest version of the plugin.
If that works, THEN install SR1 for Poser Pro 2014.

Also, in Poser Pro 2014, if you select Window -> Addons, what options pop up?

Again, no Octane.dat file in the Poser 2014 folder.
octane.dat will be in the '64' folder.

OK - something is very wrong with your Poser Pro 2014 install. I suggest re-installing it.
