Will Octane Stand-alone and the plugins still avaiable and developed? Or will development beeing stopped and only rendering via cloud avaiable?
Just like it gets only a UI to scene setup with a render button which can only be rendered on the cloud then.

I am sure the stand alone app will exist for a long time.
Are all animation 3D host apps supported (Maya, Max,...)?

Really great news. Will the octane cloud edition be a separate product from the Octane Render that is currently available i.e. will we have to buy an additional piece of software to have access to cloud rendering or will it be a free update?

Really excited for this

I have a question.
How does pricing work. With $1 per GPU hour, i'm guessing that means that if I use one GPU for an hour, it costs $1. So, with 128 GPUs running at 1 hour, it would be $128?
Is there any price increase for using more GPU's, or does it just give you a number of free GPUs? For instance, if the before is correct, why would I choose 4 GPUs instead of 128?

If I were to access 50 GPUs for 30 min, would it be $25?

Also, these are special Kepler cards, right, so is there a card that they are equivalent to speed wise? I'm curious what I can accomplish in the GPU hour for $1.

Hi,

it's fantastic to see so much enthusiasm for the cloud service. Unfortunately I cannot go into too much detail at this time.
We will announce more details when we approach the beta test phase.

Thanks again for your support and encouraging words.

Cheers,

Sam

Really good stuff.
Aside from rapid animations for films you could probably offer architects a real time walk through service for their clients to view or for real estate agents to show prospective buyers/investors...demo different arch finishes, substitute different furniture styles etc. Those sort of uses were considered here a couple of years ago but there are probably quite a few applications for gpu as a visualisation technology that havent been realised yet. If 24 fps could be attained from say from 2400 gpu (or maybe 800 with some future gpu series) it would indeed be a powerful virtual reality. Good to see Octane moving ahead. I think @radiance would be proud. :ugeek:
