This is the general initial post.
A Rhino specific (updated) post would additional signalise the serious and urgent need and more potential canditates would be interested.
This worked for Cinema and Blender, too. Why not for Rhino?

Like in the thread that Refracty linked.......sorry. I really, really don´t get it!!!

I read the whole thread. The thread, refracty linked, was started over 1 yeag ago. And now 2013 - still no C4d plugin finished. Just an (unpublic) Beta. So - when will we get Rhino Live Plugin? 2016? Cool. Rhino 7, Matrix 10 and Rhinogold 6 will be ready. Will be a good time to enter the market :-P!

The thread that was linked shows clearly, that there are some companies out there that develop plugins! Plugins for C4D, Rhino, Poser....... Why does Refractive not go to them and talks to them: Hey guys - we are a young growing business - make us the plugin! Instead: Hey....users.....wanna do it? Maybe yes - maybe no......hmmm.... Lets see. Time will show it. No - i don´t get it, but at least the reasons may be there. I just don´t see it!

All i can say - Jewelry business is in a change from simply hand made and bench working to a new era. This will be over in about 1 or 2 years! The boom is NOW and nearly over. Some will jump on the train, some not. The time to invest is now, soon it is too late. Every jewelry exhibition shows that!

Kind regards Chris!

There is also no thread for Maya, Softimage, Lightwave... like the one refractive posted and now?
Why are live plugins in work for this packages?
Maybe because some users have the skill and the interest to write one. Or because some users have the ambitions to find others which can write a plugin.
I know, your statement is, Otoy must search for people, but when there is coming nothing, you must be active and search people.
I can complain me about many things, but if i only sit in my chair and do nothing, i shouldn´t do it public...

And about how long it takes to write a plugin.
I have a fulltime job and make this in my spare time. Shall i tell you how many hours of work i have spend in this plugin???
I have 97 files and ~14.000 lines of code, without empty lines. So long the plugin isn´t sell, i do it for nothing!!!
Have you worked hours and hours for nothing in your spare time????

I don´t know how old you are, but maybe you should think before you write about things from which you have no clue...

This will be my last statement here...

ps.:
Maybe i´m a little bit harsh, sorry for that...

Although there is no Rhino Plug in on the table it wouldn't be fair to recognise all the progress Otoy has made during the last years.
Many useful features are now released and a bunch of good ones wait around the courner.
I can understand the frustration many Rhino users (like me) go through. Maxwell, VRay, Arion for Rhino, and more and more great plugins are developed for Rhino but no Octane4Rhino in sight.
Yes it is frustrating but we have to do the best thing that we can do and still respect the developer team of Otoy. All the progress that is there for the stand alone will although be of benefit for the Rhino plugin when it is done.
So let's be constructive and let's find a developer or a dozen of potential ones.
I think Otoy knows the need of an integrated Rhino Plug in now.

You are right! All thats needed to be said was said from everybody. All opinions have been heard, now it is time to do simething!

I hope they listened and do something. I will keep posting in the forums and ask people i know. Hopefully we can get this done...It would be a big Milestone!

Kind regards Chris!

I am 35 and 17 of them in Jewelry business! 6 years doing 3D design!
Have you worked hours and hours for nothing in your spare time????
Often - very often. Sometimes i get orders of many 100 pieces. Like for examples pins or brooches for universitys or making class rings. Lets count together: hours and hours of work of design to GET the order or at least be the CHOSEN one, cause they write to many jewelers out, not just to me, to give the order. If they don´t like my design - my bad - often had to do hours / days of designing work without payment. Thats completely normal in our business! After days of designing an IF i get the order i have to buy gold/silver/platinum. I have to pay it from my own money......many weeks/months before i get payd. Also compeltely normal in our business. Gemstones like for example diamonds - pay them month in forward - and so on. So - sorry if i dont have tooooo much pity with you. After you did the hard work in our spare time you earn a good money! 60% or 40% (don´t know) of the selling licenses plus free licenses - is not sooo little for something you do in your sparetime. Its the money you get PLUS to the money you earn with your normal job. Not a high risk in my opinion. I have to invest a lot and have a great risk in my business every week and i know how this feels. Plus that i have to pay monthly rent, the salary for my employed and many other things! Thats completely normal. Do you have all these things to think about??? So please....THINK before you write sentences like these above! My critics were fair and argumented - no need to get unfair here!

Regards Chris!

I wanted to give it a try with the demo but I really wonder how do they do business? No forum (how bad is that?) no documentation provided with the demo package or trace on their website aside from few screenshots and Video Tutorial soon...the toolbar does not respond returning an unknown command error (Rhino 5) active viewport camera blank..were to apply what? not a good start..anyone tried?

Good marketing, nice feature list and sample images and when you start to try you get stuck.
