i still have to try the new version, but I don't understand what you mean with that

thanks for explain me :geek:

I would like to switch between 2.8 and 3.0 without uninstall both.

Is it possible?

Regards
You can install another 3dsmax. If you have 64x, you can install 32x
ok, please add in the "choose renderer" window the Octane version.

BTW I think that the most powerful feature of this version is the possibility to add realtime transformations to the objects.
To be honest this Octane 3.0 beta does 3d transformations 100 times faster than V...
Now I will try with ies lights

I think it's time to implement directional lights.

Regards

wow..now it's possible to clone objects in realtime...hide-unhide

unfortunately switching ies texture is not in realtime...

found a bug!!!

**** If we set a plane as movable proxy it doesn't receive the right ies illumination anymore ****
steps:
create a circle 8cm diameter
set it as editable poly
add an ies texture
set as movable proxy
instance it x times
project them on a floor
set the floor as movable proxy

KNOWN ISSUES:
Incorrect lighting distribution (random bug).

It is octane core bug. Standalone has the same issue at the moment. will wait for Roeland :)

issue#1 (during a realtime render) when adding movable proxy variable to the object it is cloned, we get two copies of the same object.

issue#2 with rectangular light: emits light from the back, sphere light project its geometry shadows.

issue#3 invisible lights are visible in reflections

Sweet, finally real time movement of objects in octane.. I just realised I didn't read this part
"Instancing. To set object as instance, do right click on it, select Octane properties, set movable proxy option"
this works great!!
Really really great work.
I imported the file and it just poped inside octane render window the same speed it was merged in 3dmax window :)
Nice work Karba -

Gabriel - so the sample rate drops with usage of instances in the same scene with the same number of polys?

The cool thing is you can do almost real time previews of mass fx animations, really cool

@acc24ex

yes, enabling instances for all instanced geometries the speed decrease of 50% (in my test)

I think that the code must be optimized yet but has great potential.

that is a bit crappy, still it's awesome working with real time transforms - also UVW mapping works in realtime - this is great, I always tend to tweak uvws when I notice somethings wrong in the render window and pressing reload 10 times until i get it right, this eliminates a lot of update render geometry button presses..
also real time light placement - the world of realtime rendering just got a bit more realtime

BTW, what the hell did you do to that arch interior to get it almost to 2 gigs of ram? Was it the chairs :)

EDIT: changing a box size in the modifier menu doesn't update on render window

That is why I added this option.
It is not good idea to use proxy everywhere.
Fox example, you should not use building walls, floor and ceiling as proxy.
