Great airplane model. I love airplanes... I have been 24 years in the French Airforce, and I think that there must be a reason
I think that the simplest way of making a motion blur effect for your propeller is to map an image on a disk with Alpha transparency. You will use the motion blur feature of your usual 3D package to create this image, and you will put the disk in the same plane as the propeller, or just behind it , on the same axle.
I also used an other method (not very good) using a disk deformed with waves, and I removed some angular sectors. The material of this broken disk is specular. I used this method before alpha layer support was added to Octane.
You can see this effect on the images at the bottom of this page of my "Flying Circus" project :

Question...to add Spec., bump(?), normal maps(?) etc. they won't pass from the .Obj/.mtl right? You have to re-assign them manually to the corresponding material channels in in Octane? Does that interfere at all with the whole "Unbiased" thing since they aren't real-world materials? Also has anyone seen a clear coat like car paint (maybe metal flake) done with Octane yet?

There is a thin film parameter, with IOR factor, allowing to create a car paint effect.
