dinf: it's a issue for checking and updating algorithms, only for geometry updates. not a bug, but a sync problem.

Hi Aoktar,

i found a little bug. When i use hdr files for lighting octane is sometimes really slow when i am rotating the hdr file in the enviroment tag. But when i slightly increase the scale x/y to 1.01 is very fast again to rotate the hdr file. I am using Cinema R13 and the latest c4d Octane 0.72 Beta.
Thx for this wonderfull plugin! Good work. 0.72 is for me very stable now.

Souns like the well known importance sampling problem! When scaling the hdr, its not projecting right anymore, so simply disable importance sampling, rotate to the position you like and re enable.

Kind regards Chris!

i can't say that's a problem. Importance sampling needs much more computations and time. Try to adjust without this option.

Ahmen......i suggested him to work like this LOL! Its a problem to those people, that do now know, why their interface gets suddenly slow. In the beginning i thought too: wtf... until i recognized what i is. Its no big deal to turn it on/off, when you know what it is. but some don“t know!

Chris.

@Ahmet: is there a way to avoid this sync problem while rendering via Cinemas Picture Viewer? Rendering an animation with that LightsXpresso scene and 'full update scene' on shows up the 7th light permanently.

Another little issue, probably you know that already: rendering spheres with option 'Render Perfect' on will show the sphere in Octane's Live Viewer but not in the Picture Viewer. I tried that with different scenes. In some cases Cinema even freezes with that option switched on.

hmm, that's right. There is a problem on picture viewer. I'll fix it for next release

we have to live with this until doing a replacement. Render perfect is not generating any polygon.

Thanks.

That is no problem to live with it. But I'm wondering why the Live Viewer does render it.

:) because it's generated for opengl viewport, we use this data

just a question... i have an interior shot with some sunlight coming in.
i wanted to boost the light a bit, so i made an extra light rectangle outside the window
i made it invisible and that works of course, but it blocks off the sun light coming from behind.
it seems an invisible area light still casts shadows coming from other light sources.
is there any solution to that? no comp tags there, right?
