A huge issue I have had learning and using Octane over the last year has been with units. Where ever there is an input box with a number the unit is never called out. I realize that there is a standard unit of meters through out octane, but users tend to start in CM in C4D. So there ends up being a lot of converting when using SSS, Displacement, rounded edges. A simple call out saying that a unit is in meters would be great, but what would be even better is to have it work similar to the c4d tools that can convert the units on the fly I.E. the coordinate panel.

Thanks!

i'm working to convert some parameters who can have meanful parameters. Like displacement, focal depth, aperture, etc.. I hope that my convertion will work nicely for old scenes.

Seperately, next version will correctly handle C4D materials and textures in SRGB modes. I'm hoping this will solve some color display confusions.

Hi everyone and merhaba Ahmet,

Thanks for the great plug-in and great support! I wanted to chime in and restate what others said about the compositing tag issue. I know it's an engine side issue but do we know if the Octane team is considering this feature?

As others said, it's a big part of the workflow in almost any project and a vital feature for a rendering engine.

Hope this will be resolved soon.

Thanks for the support again.

Best.

Thank you for the very usable Node Editor.

As mentioned in another thread, framing or selecting a node leads to jump to the Object Manager. And clicking on a e.g. Texture Button will open the shader mostly inside in the AM but only sometimes in the Node Editor. But it is possible to click on the triangle beneath and to open the inside node. I'll try to have a look on it, when wich case happens.
And some nodes stay black, or produce a wrong view.

Some things I'd like to see:
- copy & paste via shortcut, or instead a duplicate command, also as shortcut
- navigation like Live Viewer: Alt + Mouse
- grouping nodes and commenting the groups
- collapsing the groups
- node list including Cinema's shader as well
- because the list becomes long and has probably many subcategories, a search field on the top would be great :)
- dragging a link and release mousebutton in space could open the node list (including C4D shader and search field), select a node, place it at the mouse and linking the connector

The last ones are Unreal Engine 4-like, but nevertheless very usefull.

Sorry for delay on reply. I don't reply all question but i need to say. We have all possible options regarding the compositing tag. I'll add when new features available.

what i mean is changing graphic card priority on the fly when rendering to picture viewer ?

so far I can do that only when rendering to live viewer

thanks for developing great plug!

Hi Aoktar,

I do not know if the question has already been asked, I did not find in the forum.
Would it be possible to add the function: Reflexion > Reflexion glossiness in the canal?
to keep the transparent side of the texture while increasing the crazy side of the reflection, to give a plastic effect.
Example caught in Vray

thank you for the great work!

Would it be possible to support the texture manager when using the imageTexture channel inside octane materials?

example usage,

I have a project that has 40 animated image sequences as diffuse and bump, they all path to C:/folder/otherfolderA/renders/filename_001_0000
now, if I for some reason have to change the folder name ie, C:/folder2/otherfolderA/renders/filename_001_0000

I have to manually reset all the texture paths. Rather than just opening cinemas texture manager and replacing folder with folder2

Would it be possible on the SETTINGS/OTHER Tab to have the Render Stats option split so the bottom stats can be shown without the top stats?

The reasoning is, I almost always need to see the stats at the bottom, but very rarely need the top stats and find them a bit distracting when I'm assessing the image.

Really wish there was a way to disable the area rendering in the live viewer that is outside the render aspect ratio (just disable rendering in the area outside the red borders exist)
Octane layout managment is a hard thing even with 2 monitors - So it could be really great to save some unwanted pixels to render.
