Lately, starting end of last year I was having a few things in mind, 1st creating a skin with a few more features than just sss, I wanted realistic velvet... I wanted different layers of sss, i wanted a skin that looks as close to real skin as possible( not being too glossy all over but to have a dry effect yet reflective on certain angles)a skin that reflects light the right way at the right spots at the right angles. I also wanted it to be rendered at as fast speed as possible. Im achieving all of these now at a max depth as low as 2. im still tweaking here and there... but the results seem to show the effort. here is a few examples based on my TGX skin. :)

Now I can actually see the node set up I'm getting a better idea of how poser SSS skin actually works.

i exported one my poser setups to standalone versions

I simply couldn't visualise within poser how the nodes worked
I use Tony skin as a basis for this.

And slightly modified the skin texture.

It is now getting the almost rubber effect might skin with some of the shine

I'm not actually too sure how to replicate this in poser?

Any comments ideas?

Maybe Paul can help us regarding this
Which bit specifically are you trying to replicate in Poser? The "New" nodes are just Mix Materials inside the Mix Material - so should be doable in Poser no probs.

Yes, love the complete image with hair etc ... the skin texture adds a lot to the natural irregularities needed to see it as natural. However, the roughness is still odd to me on closeup. It rather creates somewhat large crevices and insulae instead of pores.

Still, great skin material all in all.

The roughness you are revering to is actually turbulance instead of the character specular map. there is many ways to go about this. I prefer the character specific Specular tho. but the sss looks good and the hair fantastic.... people dont always know how much work goes into sss alone :) let alone getting a realistic looking skin. I've included a few pics ive done with the latest TGX material I've been working on.
