Many different scenarios with crashes on Apple M2

Specifications: MacBook Pro M2 Max / Ventura 13.3 / Cinema 4d 2023 / Octane X latest release R6 / Latest Greyscalegorilla Hub / Latest Insydium X-Particles

Thanks in advance for this forum post with many valuable tips!

Unfortunately, I have so many different scenarios where my in-process scenes crash that I can't even reproduce them at this time.

Sometimes I have to open Cinema 2-3 times in a row, another time Cinema says goodbye with a click on "Restart new render" in Octane and another time when simply changing textures from GSG Plus library.
This has been going on for 2 weeks now, forcing me to return to my old Windows workstation with GTX cards to finish pending projects :roll:

For now, I have to say that it was a wrong decision to switch to Mac M2 with C4D and Octane.
Possibly it has something to do with the fact that my scenes were created on Windows (except for the program versions used, the same setup).

I still hope that my setup will run with future releases.
As soon as I have more knowledge and can reproduce crashes, I will report it here.

Deleted oct.dat : next launch, multiple messages errors, then crash.
Downloaded and installed the 2022.1.1-R6 : no trace of Octane in c4d.


EDIT:
Finally went back to "OctaneRender-Prime-for-C4D-2022.1_R8_OSX_m1 2", deleted again oct.dat
This time Octane work again. BUT! Same crash if I close Octane viewer, and when I quit c4d. I don't use c4d octane layout, but I do have a c4d personnal layout.
Whatever.

@shtl_1: sorry I have wrongly shared the Win version, I have corrected the link in my original post.
If c4doctane is not loaded, it means that you need to upgrade C4D to R2023.2 build, or c4doctane plugin cannot work correctly, please go to your MyMaxon/Downloads page and download the update.

Congratulations to the Octane team on the launch of Octane X.
It's been an incredible journey, and being the first gpu renderer on apple's hardware is a remarkable achievement.

Hello.
Finaly managed to instal latest octane version.
But I still have the same crashes of c4d if I close Octane viewer window, and every time I close c4d after launching Octane window.
I don't crash if I don't use octane.
I don't crash immediately if I open and then close octane viewer on a blank scene, or just a cube. But c4d will crash at quit.

EDIT:
I just deleted again oct.dat, and now no more crashes !!!! thank you Beppe !!!!

Hi Otoy team, I am using Octane Blender M1 Max Ventura OS and is working really well.

However, I just noticed that MixMaterial doesn't allow to mask anything with specular materials, I tried many ways, followed C4D and Octane X Standalone node groups, tutorials like this https://www.behance.net/gallery/1171921 ... -Deep-Dive and I realized that no matter what, in Blender (Mac at least) Specular is limited.

Basically I can not add a decal by using MixMaterial or any other material node as long as my main material is Specular.

Please give me some advice if I am wrong.

sorry, not a Blender user, but here is a simple example of Specular material masked in a Composite material, made with Standalone 2022.1.2 on a M2 mac:
