Is your new OcDS shader going to be sold at the DAZ store or somewhere else?
As with our other "base figure" shaders, the Genesis 3 Female shaders will be exclusively available through our homepage store.
Should we develop shaders based on specific characters, we might sell those on DAZ3D as well.
will there be an update option for existing costumers?
We're currently checking if our current file distribution system can handle discounts based on previous purchases, since it is something we definitely would like to offer.

Will tell you guys more, once I have more info - stay tuned :)

only posting this because I like trolling the octane forums with non realistic renders of toons.(rendered with OcDS of course)

Victoria 7, mutated into a toon. Cause thats how I roll. I dont have any V7 clothes so I had to quickly make my own. cept the hat and necklace did come from legacy figures.

added a non-toon image too for giggles. the V7 gal, shes not using any bump/normal map on skin. just diffuse hair.. she's using the same materials i used for the toon. So if she used normal maps the skin would be more detailed. was just sharing this screen because someone said V7 didn't have 3Delight materials...i find the iRay materials dont work well with OcDS, i mean not as a decent base. Obviously the 3Delight need work too but with iray materials not even the diffuse comes over properly.

lastly added a sub 2 minute render of V7

Complete with Genesis 3 / V7 - based transparency maps and shader structure improvements, not yet present in the G2 shaders.
We've tried to implement everything that made sense and was introduced with the most recent updates to OctaneRender.
I would prefer if all the products that have been sold already would be updated first, before goint into new fancy things. I have a good (but as I see from the above post not yet finalized) G2 shader set, a useless set for the Bentley hair from DAZ, that never really worked, still it wasn't cheap and not yet updates since month against all promises, now we have new fancy shaders for the all new V3 not even 24 horus old.

I feel that nowadays the customer care in this business gets lost more and more. You don't do updates anymoe, you just go over to new versions you can at least get an upgrade price for. It's the same over at DAZ itself. Genesis 2 is great. I am sure it would have been possible to optimize the character without going onto G3 already, but hey, why do so if you can sell all the old face and bodymorphs for the 3rd time now?

So, I would really love if you would prove us wrong and also implement the new things into the old shadersets, so we can work with the "old" content in the same quality.
Thank you!

We're able to provide shaders (almost) 24hrs after release, since DAZ3D was so kind as to provide us with pre-release files of G3 and Victoria 7.
If it wasn't for those, we wouldn't be able to release anything before mid / end of July probably.
So, I would really love if you would prove us wrong and also implement the new things into the old shadersets, so we can work with the "old" content in the same quality.
All previous DAZ3D figure shaders (Genesis, Genesis 2) will receive a feature update containing all the new ones which will come with RedSpec TGX tailored MK2 for Genesis 3 Females. This will be a free update for existing customers.

As for the Bentley hair shader: We will release something in the next weeks , which will take care of that problem.

Hope this clarifies a few things in our product and / or release policy :)

Please always keep in mind that we're hobbyists / enthusiasts developing this stuff in our free time, while the both of us still have a dayjob and a family to take care of.
This will never be an excuse for anything - just wanted to set things in perspective here. :)

Of course, It's family first, thats the most important thing. And sorry, I didnt wanted to sound harsh. I'm a hobbyist myself, so I know how hard it is to bring the work / life balance into the correct amounts and still have enough time for hobbys besides family.

Your products are great, so, i really look forward to the new releases anyway. Thank's for claring things up. looking foward to the updated shaders.
By the way, the old ones are Amazing still:

Here you see a testrendering with the all new FaceGen Artist Pro, the latest DAZ Beta Plugin and your Redspec Shaders applied to it.

That is the best realistic render of G3F I've seen so far. Post that on the DAZ forum and show them how it's done! I also like the toon character but for me atm I need evidence of the greater realism of G3F to even contemplate upgrading after the thousands I've spent moving from G1 to G2. Your render just convinced me!

Thanks!

Personally I don't plan to move again. I moved characters from V4 to G1, G1 to G2. I still have a few characters stuck in G1 land for a few reasons. And most of my G2F characters are fine there because they are toons. No need to spend time moving them over, figuring out how to get a skin material that looks how I want it and all that stuff.

The materials issue is what would prevent me from updating existing characters.

But I will dabble with G3 for a bit, she is nice. But I figure I can use her for a new character. Probably just one for the foreseeable future as I don't plan to buy a ton of stuff from Daz right now. I bought the head and body morphs and V7 base figure. And the tool to convert G2F poses to G3 (seems to work well). I'll buy one more skin for V7 once I find one that looks nice. And that is all I plan to buy(maybe one or two more skins eventually but no clothes).

larsmidnatt isn't bad, he just renders that way. :-) (I'm referencing Jessica Rabbit.)

Anyways, what I noticed immediately about Genesis 3 was the expressions were extremely realistic. I thought it was hitting the uncanny alley.

But frankly its another F*king UV map that doesn't work with anything. Grrr....

Yeah I agree that the expressions are going to be HARD for a lot of casuals because they will end up looking worse than before. I noticed it on some of my renders, there are details you never had in the cheeks that can now throw off the render. I think its great to have the power frankly, no complaints. But I can see the crowd that just uses presets without tweaks having some bad results.

I think V7 looks pretty awesome. It seems that you can port everything apart from skins and body shapes. There's software that can bake textures between similar but not identical meshes so who knows with that...

I'm sure there'll be a huge market for expressions now, so people who don't want to spend too much time can get it to look good as well.
