Hi My Name is Dan and I am entering my first Octane project in the competition. I am a sculptor using Rhino to output projects for production and Octane to show the finished work so photorealism is crucial. This piece began as a very rough sketch for an idea to be cast in bronze with one of the elements high polished and the other painted in a distressed fashion. I set up the shot as I would for an actual studio (using a studio layout found in the forums). Rendering was pathtracing,16000 samples, max depth 2 (higher caused crashes as I only have the one GPU) Rendering time 1:30. 121910 Triangles. Minor noise reduction in photoshop.

hi guys!
just wanna share my entry for the competition, this is my very first time to enter in a competition and i think its cool!!.
This project is inspired by a drill bit, I just wanna see how i can work this out for as building. I had this done in 4 nights (after office)
I may have to make moneyshot and an evening shot out of this ;)

--some tech. info.
- 1,977,442 tris. @ 2048x1024 / 30 mins. render
(I had bunch of firefly and i should have to extend more to reduce them,I may replace the final image) no post pro.
- win7 / 8GB ram / GeForce GT220 (1GB)

here it goes!

competitions is opened for all but what is about demo users???

ITS NOT FAIR
that is like i give you a 3d studio max 2000
i have studio max 2010 and lets start, i will win normaly

octane team give us a demo version of last octane render
that competitions will be fair
