We didn't want to spoil the surprise, but yes, a fully integrated OctaneRender for Blender plug-in is in development and it's progressing very well. Expect some news soon.

best news I've heard in a long time!
I was almost certain, every thing seemed to be pointing to it
So happy. Lots of questions I want to ask, but I'll be patient

Can't wait for the official statement.
And if you guys need beta testers, I spend 8 hours a day in Blender and Octane, then sometimes more when I get home. Obviously it wouldn't be much use on billable projects at first, but I have a decent amount of downtime at work to be testing stuff. (much better than browsing facebook, haha)

Yay! Thanks! Can't wait to test the beta! (I presume there will be a beta before release)
This will make my workflow so much easier.

Wow, this sounds so amazing !
If it really keeps on going, this is the best ever could happen to Blender.
I hope it can compete with Cycles
Kind regards
Alain

Is it really ? Can you show me a comparison ?
I didn't test Octane anymore since about six month, but Octane (pathtracing) was as "fast" as Cycles is.
Directlightning is faster but lacks on quality.
Kind regards
Alain

What card are you using with Octane?
Octane utilizes the video cards much better than Cycles. Plus if you have a very fast CPU, that might skew the results more towards Cycles.
I did a test with Cycles on my Octane machine which has 2 GTX 580s and an AMD quad core 3.0 ghtz CPU (not the best for Cycles). Octane was much much faster. And I had better results (but I really don't know much about Cycles, so I could have just been setting the scene up wrong or something). But in the cycles render, I used the same lighting, but left all my materials a grey diffuse, while I had glossy and specular materials in Octane.
I think the more GTX cards you have in your machine, the better Octane will be vs Cycles. If you have like an 8 core intel I7 4.0 ghtz CPU, and a crappy video card, ya, Cycles will probably be faster.
