alexchopjian wrote:Regarding "Version 3.04.5 (26.11.2016) - Latest stable" for R18, I was initially having issues getting it to work. Looks like the R18.cdl64 doesn't work with R18. I deleted the R18.cdl64 out of the c4doctane folder and left the R17.cdl64 and it worked. Not sure if this is a bug or if I'll experience any issues down the road, but I thought I'd address this if any one else hasn't.
update to 18.028.

Vertex Maps! You're a legend, thanks for implementing this. Seems to work well..!

It's not a real vertexmaps. Just a simulation and limited somehow. You should not use same material on different objects with vertexmap texture.
Btw any feedback will help to improve the plugin.

Just playing with the vertex maps now. It would be great if there was some way to interpolate the map to a higher resolution, or allowing image operators like blur and Brightness / contrast / HSL type transforms on it. At the moment it needs a mesh with a lot of vertexes to work well which is quite inefficient.

Not sure how easy something like that would be to implement, what do you think?

Didn't understand what you mean. Results are quite similar to C4D's own results. Does C4D do this like you wish? Any example to explain better?

Hi ahmet,

Sorry if i come up as daft here, but i cant seem to locate the vertex map node. it does appear in the example file but i cant seem to be able to locate it in the node menu.
thx,

Guy

Hi Ahmet,

I can't find how to utilise the new Vertex map support either, what is the intended workflow for this?

I've tried with just a C4D vertex map shader but that doesn't work (shown below):

I also can't see a Vertex node in the Octane dropdown:

This is all in R18.028 and the latest plugin build (3.04.5)

cheers,
brasc

If I try to download the material SOBE plastic into an empty file (and into a not empty file), C4D R16 crashes. latest octane.
can someone try out if the material is somehow weird?

edit: a lot of the materials from the livedb crash my c4d while downloading, rolling back octane now.

edit2: all the materials work again with 3.04.3, had to fish it out of the bin, because the 3.03.4 download link only leads to 3.04.5.

Have you checked sample scene under the download links?
I haven't yet added vertexmap entry to node editor. But it's not an obstacle to use it.
