Is there a way to render out denoised volumes in one take? I mean, kinda like we get thicking ON "Use Denoised Beauty Pass" in the Main Settings?
Would it be hard to include also the volumes adding a "Use Denoised Volume Pass" for future releases?
Great work with Octane 4 btw, just upgraded from 3 and it works great.
Have a great one,
Domenico
Thanks! You too!
It's not easy and requires a bunch of complex coding. And I'm not sure what's the advantage while we have same passes for noised/denoised volume passes. It was great for beauty buffer because people don't want to use passes just for rendering without using passes. But here you are actually using passes and you can select denoising passes easily. Isn't?

I have to guess every time what happens at the end. See how it works in substance designer. You need to make it work the same way.
Hi! Unconnected nodes will not get previews. See picture. It's a limitation.

Ok, thanks.

Actually you are right, Ahmet, the workflow for denoised volume passes is very easy indeed, thank you for your prompt answer, man!

Hi, i think there is small glitch with priorities on gpus.
While i set it to low, everytime i re launch my live viewer my c4d lags, unless i go and set priority to low again. It seems like even if it says low that it is not.
Is that happening only here? thanks

				Hi Aoktar,
Appreciate the hard work but I'm having issues with this release.
Updated from 4.0 RC7 to 4.01.1
It feels WAY slower. WAY WAY slower. Updating ANYTHING takes forever - try to add a node? Wait a few seconds. Try to select something else in the object manager? Wait a few seconds. Try to press the pause button? Half the time the click doesn't register because the UI is locked up for a few seconds each time something is done. Send to LV - wait while each material is slooooooowly parsed, seems a lot slower than before.
On that note - Pause button is not un-pausing sometimes - will stay blue (looks active) but actually does unpause, which is confusing when you're rendering but you have a blue pause icon on.
GPU stats keep disappearing and they don't come back even toggling off the settings checkbox to show stats. This is annoying.
Anyone else having this?
Why is 4.01.1 so much slower than 4.0 RC7? It's practically unusable now, and going back to RC7 won't work because it was a temp build that expires? At least with Redshift when they put out builds they don't expire after 120 days. I'm stuck now if RC7 is going to deactivate and 4.01.1 is a dog.
Super disappointed in this, as RC7 was very smooth and fast.
Mac, 10.12.4
2x10780Ti (eGPU - has never been an issue so should not be now).

				Hi sbstnc,
please, go to System Preferences/CUDA and share a screenshot of the panel, thanks.
ciao Beppe

Thanks and sorry to hear! But It's very fast on my setup. And this is not directly related with plugin side but in core and gpus. You may have somethings about gpu settings and osx. First check/try different settings from settings/devices/gpu and usage and priorities. Disable monitor gpu for rendering and try.

I will investigate but monitor GPU is already disabled, as with eGPU on Mac the monitor is from the internal AMD cards but Octane uses the 2x1080Ti.
What I am curious about is why such a huge slowdown from 4.0 to 4.01.
I just reinstalled 4.0RC7R4 and it's literally twice as fast. Scene has an HDRI, some small lights, DoF, and at 3000samples the difference is 42 mins on 4.01.1 vs 21 mins on 4.0RC7R4. Just doing dev now so would of course aim to bring the time down but an increase of50% is a bit odd considering nothing on the machine changes except a .01 version difference. Is the core really that different from 4.0 to 0.01?

				Happy new year

Priorities dont play ball well here, they keep changing randomly.
Plus, this version doesnt behave like 3.08 which was super smooth in viewport. I have to completely disable the 1st GPU even if priority is set to low (which im not even sure its considering it.
Let me know. Thanks

From my understanding when I updated to 4.0 (various R releases), while I had to update CUDA and drivers on PC, Mac was fine to use existing.
I may have missed some vital information in a post? I tend not to update if everything is stable. As I said in previous post, changing from 4.0 to 4.01 (with no other system change) sees a huge slowdown in performance, while working in C4D with LV on and when rendering to PV.
Thanks
and Happy New Year!
