Yes, it is based on the 2.04 API, and you need the 2.04 standalone for network rendering.

I've stripped the scene down to a single object and nothing at all connected to the render target. And the bizarre render oddity persists. If I start a new scene and load the bin object all is good, there's something inherent in the scene causing it but darned if I know I've tried everything I can think. Possibly a corrupted render target?
I think that your problem could be that you have the LW native region render enabled in this scene and set to full screen ... I am not sure now, I should test it in deep, but could be problems if you have a LW region enabled and later you try to use the preview window "Region" feature. If you disable the LW render region in this scene, all should works fine with the preview window region tool.

Thanks Juanjo you nailed it once again.. it was the render region. It happens when LW render region is active [both partial selection or full screen] and then do an f9 render. Then if region is selected while F9 is rendering all sorts of weirdness. I guess for now there's no refinement on LW selected regions in octane. Not crucial, but would be helpful to be able to clear up fireflys while doing a LW region render.

Can we plug IES file as a texture to a mesh. I want to instance a lot of mesh lamps with IES texture on it.

Yes, you can use a IES file with the texture image node, in the texture from file parameter.

Thanks, LW doesn't recognize IES file format so I didn't know I could load it this way.

Thanks Juanjo, I've been trying to do this for some time. The trick is to 'show all files' in the open dialog box. I never would have known to check this.

There's another glitch with IPR and I've noticed this since 2.0.0 Sometimes get a kind of skewing in the IPR window when set to half rez with fixed aspect also checked. Seems to happen on any scene simple or complex but I can post my sample scene if you like.
full rez
half rez

After some testing I concluded that a mesh which has IES plugged in doesn't need to have UV map because it is ignored. IES lights always point straight down. But I don't understand then how can I direct an IES light in modeler ? I can rotate it in Layout, yes, but still I don't get it.
EDIT: And if I have a model with 10 cubes all scattered around how Octane knows that each cube is IES cube is a separate light ? There is some voodoo magic here.

I'm having a problem with the region render even working at all. Every time I turn it on whether or not I have Limited Region render on all it does is go to max size and refuse to adjust. This happens even in complete empty scenes with nothing in them with a fresh reboot of lightwave 11.6.2. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong.
