I somewhat agree with you !(only about the manual )
It's all pointing on the same direction ,Thougth.
By the way, I think, video tutorials are way better , the manual is just short reference.
a suggestion, Just in case , they will ever consider to make any .

I would love to have an updated manual

need more sample images for what the parameters controls.
I like how VRay manuals have render samples and technical descriptions

I believe the current manual policy is to release them for the stable editions.
Just remember that these releases are the test releases, for the enthusiasts/people who want to help test the latest features, so you are getting things the moment they are available (documented or otherwise).
We make efforts to release updated manuals but for test releases this is not necessarily practical to release a new manual for every test version.
Please be patient with us as we do make efforts to make as much information about new features as available as possible, but it is a constant road that is always being worked on. Also, don't forget that the standalone is where the features begin, the plugin manuals are more intended to show where to access octane features, not so much exactly what they do.
Rest assured that the manuals are not forgotten!
Thanks
Chris.

Actually 1.18 is almost 1.20. It is just can be renamed to 1.20 as long there is not changes anymore since 1.18. We will deliver manual as soon as possible.

Just rename it Karba so everyone and especially new perople to Octane have a dure feeling to be on a current version.
Seems to be distracting for a good amount of people.

Know what ?
I think Octane is not an isolated case, and it is not the worse.
I think developers are simply not releasing Tutorials and manuals for their softwares
and enthusiasts like me , have those cold Showers, as they depend on basic tutorials.
Come on , should be normal to have tuts around , in order to share basic usage, it is weird.
I have Chaosgroup Phoenix 2.1 , they released a new Ocean tool, guess what ,
no tutorials at all.I complained for an year , and now they say they are releasing ,
How Chaosgroup have a product not documented ? if Vray have so many docs.
Users come and don't ask for documentation, instead they task for a single particular doubt and
the vicious circle go on.How many unnecessary topics a single tutorial would save ?
But they know about that, it is simply their decision not to come out with step by step usage docs.
I frankly can't guess Why !the excuses are unnecessary , because nothing justifies this .
ok, karba helped me here at the forum , and for that I'm grateful.
and The standalone tuts also ,do help .

Anyone want to volunteer to help write the manual and add tutorials and samples?
I appreciate all the help on the forums but beta or not, there should be a good solid manual since we are paying customers.
I started with the demo versions and was not excited to buy the software. The manual is not that intuitive and some of the features and maps are confusing to new user. I'm no rocket scientist
Only after seeing user's reviews and great images produced I bought it.
I believe with solid documentation and sample files to help new users would only increase the awareness and sales of Octane.
For example, I see all the cool pictures on the blog on the skin shader. Why do I have to spend hours figuring it out if Otoy can post a scene file.
Just my 2 cents.
