Very interesting thread, I spent a lot of time reading the discussion and finally I found the velvet node trial to make photorealistic human skin shader. I agree SSS is very important, but (maybe I am wrong) only at special parts of our body, like ears, nose, fingers and genitals.
I am looking for solving the problem of short, mainly light colour, little hair on our body. This what I see, specially on well taken photos with interesting lightning. Only one time I found interesting and realistic render like this:

Look at doll's chest, left shoulder or left lick, where the light is balancing between shadow and sharp light. This little hair decide about realistic character of this shader.
Few months ago I asked JPayne about, he answered me: body hair are part of shader, hair at body contour are postworked in PS (like headhair).
I was looking many times how to make node responsible for these small light hair on body, but lost the hope.
Maybe someone of You knows the answer.
I think it is worth to looking the skin with velvet effect for good looking whole body renders, but for close-ups more realistic are bodyhair.
All the best for You, Friends.

I love Jpaine's work.. i asked him once how he does it and he says that he has years of experience with postwork ect.. The effect he gets is all about skill and time... Zbrush tho makes life easy for us .. not so skilled peeps

And yet.... though in the above example, though he has the glancing light down and the "peach fuzz" looks amazing, I'd have to say there is something missing from the face. It looks good, but good as in good artwork. It doesn't look real.
Some of your renders, on the other hand wilt look 100% real.

@ Witpapier - thank You for Your kind answer, this is true answer for my problem, not new skin shader as was mentioned by JPayne. I was really sure there is one magic node, responsible for hair/fur as I see now. Infact, probably with ZBrush, Maya, 3Dmax whole our life would be more simple

.
At least I know how can I spend the next 7 hundred bucks

Wow that looks amazing, certainly a step up from the velvet effect for close up images.
I've had ZBrush for years, but I'm still a total noob with it, custom morphs is about as far as I can go so far, I'd love to know how to do this.
