Hi,
here is the link for downloading the chess scene:
http://render.otoy.com/downloads/Octane ... oSuite.zip

You need to open with OctaneX Standalone the chess_set_procedural.ocs scene with only one GPU enabled in Preferences/Devices, then click on the Render Target PT node, and share a screenshot.

Here is the latest chart, lower results are faster, time in seconds:

ciao,

Does anyone else have an issue where Octane control panel doesn't remember the GPU is checked.. so that every time when trying to render it fails "NO gpu selected"... no matter how i check it.. it never sticks..
Is there a preference file i can kill? that might be locked or something?
octane X PR14
Cinema 4d R26

Hi cjadams,

please close c4d, then try to delete the oct.dat file, at the following path, the c4doctane preferences will be reset to default, and a new oct.dat file will be created on next c4d start:
/Users/UserName/Library/Preferences/Maxon/Maxon Cinema 4D R2X_XXXXXXX/prefs/oct.dat

ciao,
Beppe

16" Intel MBP with 4 x eGPUs and 1 internal
Chess Scene = 4 seconds

https://jmp.sh/REkQME2

Here are the 4 eGPUs connected (2 x 6900 + 2 x 5700):

Hope this is useful to someone.

It's a shame that Intel Macs are no longer supported as they are faster than M1 Ultras by a VERY long way :(

Looks like a PC build is next when the 4090s come out. Apple seems to have made a mistake here :(

In that chart are the M1 Ultra and Max running the latest version or using Rosetta?

Looks to me like the M1 Ultra isn't much slower than an Intel Mac Pro with one decent (6800 or 6900) graphics card. What do you mean 'they are faster by a VERY long way?

You didn’t even read my post, did you?

4 seconds for the chess scene. Beat that with an M1 Ultra. It doesn’t matter what you do to it, you won’t even get close.

My Intel Mac smokes an M1 Ultra - by a VERY VERY long way.

I go as far as to say, an M1 Mac is pretty terrible next to an Intel Mac with a couple of cards and an embarrassment next to a PC with a couple of 3090s. And anyone considering an M1 Mac for this sort of work should think very hard before they spend any money.

Please stay with Monterey for now.
Ventura is not supported yet, it has a completely different Apple Metal driver, so OctaneX must be rewritten.

Beppe

Will we be seeing an update to work with C4D 2023? ... or should it be working already?
