Can't say that I like this approach much either... v2 has many open and unfixed bugs. And now we hear that work is underway on v3? Which will be another paid upgrade - most probably...
Just for the version 2 alone I purchased another standalone OC license so I could use network rendering from within the OcDS plugin. A feature which is bugged and therefore not usable. So I'm paying money not only to t_3 for the plugin itself, but also to Otoy without even being able to use the features I purchased the licenses for...
Well... not too happy about it...

I'm just happy something is being done and that the plugin has a future. I really dont want to use iRay unless I really have to.

In case it wasn't clear, we are planning to address updates related to the current version first. Work on V3 will follow that.

Thanks, that really was not clear from you're earlier post (for me)
I can off course only speak for my self. But at the current plug-in "state", investing in a new version of octane/OcDS is really a no go. First i would look like to regain some trust in the development of OcDS (v2) and actually "see" some progress instead of promises etc.

Yes. I think it was not clear for anyone here it seems

So thanks to clarify that.
Same for as for hammer66.
Right now i would not be in the mood to throw away another bundle of bucks for a non-supported product
So we have some kind of Roadmap:
- address updates for V2
- finalize V2 Release
- further development including addressed updates to V3
Sound fine for me.
What i at least miss is some kind of rough timeplan - i mean "weeks" is very unspecific

We only have "weeks" to xmas.
We only have "weeks" to 2016.
We only have "weeks" to Summer 2016.
12 weeks are also only "some weeks", but there are also 3 months or a quarter of a year

You know.
Can we estimate a release this year ? or more in 2016 ?

Ok. Finally some information.
First, assuming that a price will be attached to the V3 plug-in, I sincerely hope you don't expect us to buy it, since we *still* haven't got what we already paid for.
Secondly, why would anyone that has not already paid for the plugin buy into a V3 plug-in, given all the frustrations V1 and V2 have had in this forum?
What assurances can you give us that things will ACTUALLY improve at all with a version 3 plugin??
Please don't misunderstand -- I'm sure V3 is great and full of gee-whiz new features, but without an active developer supporting a V3 plugin, along with V1 and/or V2, this will be yet another round of frustration, wasted time, and angry digital artists.
Goldorak, we simply need more than that to go on.
You can't ask paying/paid customers to go on faith any longer -- that was burned when V2 never materialized.
We are still waiting for what is already long overdue. Any announcement of something "newer" or "improved" will need to meet VERY high expectations, to recompense what was already lost in V1/V2. Something new is not a matter of improving what we already have.
It is a matter of finally delivering something worthy of the premium price that is charged. That includes well more than a V3 plug-in.
I look forward to your response in these matters.

I like DAZ a lot better than Poser but this plug in is awful mostly due to lack of interaction with the dev and no updates for such a long time. Obviously he is not into doing this work at least for this plug in, I am going to learn the stand alone and not support this by purchasing the plug in any longer.

My response is to wait while we work out details this month. I can't speak to your expectations, but the changes we are making satisfy ours, and we are taking this seriously. We realize t-3 did not communicate enough with the community. I am sorry were not able to step in any sooner than this. Communication is important. Let us handle this. Then tell us how we did.

The fact that you've been keeping in contact is a step forward and I'm hopeful that there will be progress this time unlike the months/years of little or no communication that we've experienced in the past. It's still difficult not to become frustrated but OTOY seem to be trying to resolve this at last. OcDS has such great potential and it's a shame that somehow it went of track.

I need agree here.
For now i think we are fine with that outcome. And we should not enforce anything whats being worked out now.
There is a plan mentioned and a rough timing we have now also.
For me it sounds that we can expect an outcome before xmas. And as can see here now Otoy has not only read what we complain about , it is also recognized and accomplished.
So this is a big step compared to before.
Let us see what they have in around a month.
I mean..we have waited so long so that another month will not hurt me
