During auto-conversion of materials only a few of the maps used in the Daz surfaces are added. The option to import maps and connect them is useful but sometimes doesn't work. Take for instance a product like Sublime Grime uses iRay Makeup layer with Makeup weight. It would be great to have those included since Octane materials do have a layer system that we could use.

Hi Tugpsx,
Thank you for the post.
For advance shading we would require some manual work, however this sounds like doable.
The Basic starter Genesis 9 character does not have the Sublime grime textures.
Would you please DM me the character and the expected node connections for us to create a request ticket?
cheers

We are working through something in the discord to determine the cause of the error. Now that more material options of Octane is available to Studio version we see there is a Decal layer and mixed, weighted layers that can be overlayed to possibly give the effect.

No one in there right mind uses auto material. No daz artist that sells online makes there stuff the same way with the same strength or anything . People really need to learn to do there own work and learn.
Also it does not fit most shaders people crate them self anyway i make my own due to nothing is made the same on daz store even

When
https://www.daz3d.com/octane-render-kit was released at Daz 3D Store, it attracted new users. That is the intent of making some material conversion easier for new users.
Yes, they will have to learn to use the new environment and material system (opportunity to market tutorials on OctaneRender for Daz Studio use), but you don't want frustrated users who are used to working in Daz Iray saying it's too complicated to use OctaneRender and move on. We want satisfied users who are willing to subscribe to a better render environment, thus allowing more development.
It's been over 14 years since I introduced Daz to OctaneRender, and yet OctaneRender for Daz still has not taken root. Not for lack of trying (been on several dev teams) but the mindset of over 1Million users at Daz is a bit different when they are used to a certain workflow. The average user there just wants to load and render, not tinker with materials. They want to tell their stories.
With the addition of animation to Daz Octane render that opened doors for more users. A lot have come to enjoy the Toon render that Daz Octane provided but now it's up against filament. Staying relevant is the key to keeping our render engine alive.

Here is a Grunge/makeup layer texture material. This should work with most Daz Iray materials that use the "Makeup" channel.
I tested it on several characters, and it works very well. It obviously can be refined to include more options and fallbacks.
This Template version is used with the materials from auto convert or DIY Materials (although most DIY would already know how to apply these).
