I have updated the installers at the top of this thread with:
2025.2.1.144
- Compiled with Octane 2025.2.1
- Potential fix for the crash related to generating Octane material thumbnails
Thanks
Paul

I am running current build of Rhino 3D and current (144) build of Octane for Rhino 3D.
When I create an Octane material, assign it to a box, activate the UV editor in Rhino, the material texture is not the same material that is applied to the object, but another material in the Rhino 3D file.
Therefore I cannot align and adjust the UV mapping in the editor since it it showing the wrong texture map.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Rick

Hi Rick
Are you on Rhino7 or Rhino8 please? I wasn't able to reproduce the issue, but my knowledge of UV editing is not great in Rhino. Would you be able to post some screenshots showing your workflow and showing the issue so that I can better understand the problem?
Thanks
Paul

Hi

- Rhino 8 viewport, UV Editor window, wrong texture map shown
Paul.
I have attached a screenshot:
1. Octane material applied to a 'box' (joined polysurfs)
2. Box in Rhino 8 viewport shows un-aligned UV texture map correctly
3. Click the UV Editor to align the texture to the polysurfs
4. Texture shown in UV Editor window is NOT the material texture (or any bump map etc).
Also noting that the orientation of some of the box faces in the UV Editor are 'flipped', and I see no way to rotate them in 3D to correctly orient/align them.
Thanks!
Rick

Thanks Rick
It seems to be working on my simple test scene.
Is it possible the texturemap in the material is nested inside a bunch of other nodes? Are you able to send me that scene please so I can take a closer look.
Thanks
Paul

Hi All,
I'm having an issue exporting HDR EXRs from the Rhino plugin. I can make it work from standalone, but the plugin only ever spits out SDR data, no matter the format.
I tried;
Turning off ACES
Setting response cure to off/linear
Exporting in EXR 16/32 Linear/Tonemapped
Setting the default image Export to EXR in die Rhino OctaneSettings
Is there something I'm overlooking, or is this a software issue?
I need to export in a larger color space for a project I work on right now, and going through standalone every time is a massive hassle.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Using Windows 10, latest Rhino 8 release and latest Octane for Rhino with driver 566.36 on a RTX4090

Hi - I clicked the Octane Viewport->Save All Enabled Renderpasses button and selected 32bit, and it saved as 32bit. Is that what you are looking for?

Hi Paul!
Yes, and no. The resulting file is 32 Bit, but it does not utilize the color space. In photoshop, it's clearly visible that it brightens to SDR white, then cuts off. When I export the same scene as ORBX, render in Standalone and export the render from there, the full space/HDR range is being utilized.
Here's what the curves look like:
I put together a collection of files with a bunch of stuff removed for you to take a look at. Maybe there will be some texture-linking issue in the .3dm knowing rhino, but it should work nonetheless. It looks weird since I played with the settings a bunch, but they are identical in the 3dm and ORBX.
HRD Issue.zip (Expires on July 31st)
I kind of hope I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know what to try anymore.
Thank you for looking into this!
EDIT: Imgur image embedding seems to not have worked, so I attached the comparison Image to the post

Hi Lekup
I get "Sorry, the page you are looking for is not found." if I try to download that file.
