Using Octane for a big scene.
Decided to convert some objects into ORBX format, it brings more stability to render production for animations. Otherwise I would get render stuck at first or second frame and not process the following.
Now I managed to render a full 300 frames sequence. Awesome.
Prepared a second 300 frames take, process stucked at frame 250... so I restarted C4D... only this time... I can render the scene in liveview and see the .orbx files in place.
But when put in production... I see no orbx object... scale issue, otter issue?
Frustrating cause it was working well...

Idk... but bothering cause every time I need to setup those scenes to render is like 10 minutes restarting C4D, reopening files, etc... had to do this dozen of times.
When thought I had Orbx files as a solution, another problem surges...
Do you have any subdivision surfaces in the scene where the render subdivision might be set differently than the editor subdivision?
Or is the street geo intersecting with the geo below?
Is this happening on 2024.1.2-R3?

Can you send us the C4D scene + ORBX files for troubleshooting?

No subdivision inside the ORBX files sure of any of that.
I has been optimizing the scene, deactivating all unnecessary subdivisions, so I guess there are any.
The 2 ORBX objects worked very well. I managed to render 250 frames of the animation.
50 frames were still due to render before I had to restart C4D. After that, reopened the scenes and problems started to present as I show you.
Mystery to me why it worked and stopped working.
C4D file is about 5 GB + textures and ORBX files are 1.5 GB and 150 mg.
Tricky to send to you.
I finished the work without the missing 50 frames, so I don't need to touch those files for now.
I may go back another time. I have many deadlines now, can't be playing now with those files.
Also happens in 2024.1.2-R3.

Two questions:
1.color the box below the drop-down line, click the other node and come back, this line will automatically recover! Figure 1
2.The "Enabled" of the "composite texture node "is invalid! Figure 2

Sorry, I have tried with a couple of latest builds but I cannot reproduce the issue, "Remove unused materials" command is working as expected here.

Do you have an example scene to share that shows the issue?

ciao,
Beppe

I believe 99% of my scenes it won't work.
Here is a scene for example.

I will certainly post this into the wishes section:
I wish we could use scattering tool with multiple objects with a color based code guide to tell where each element should be scattered.
Afc I could use Noise to scatter either on white or black areas. But that requires me to use 2 scattering objects and only allows me to use 2 objects.
Such a tool would be great for Landscape architecture and creating greenwalls with multiple plants.
Example I attach is a landscape color code for each kind of vegetation.
Wish we could have more advanced features for Scattering.

Hi,
about "Remove unused materials" command, it works correctly with your scene.
Here is before:
IMG_4428.jpeg
And after:
IMG_4431.jpeg
Are you sure to have not saved in your layout the "Remove duplicated materials" command?
IMG_4432.jpeg
It has the same icon but it is a different command.

Beppe
