Alright, thanks for the info!

Hey Ricky,
I don't use standalone octane so cannot tell, one thing is for sure in 2023 denoiser always worked perfectly and this issue appeared in 2024!

Hi, under Octane plugin Options > GPU's (Change Tonemap to the other GPU to see, also try swich which does the denoising)

Yep, just did some of the tweaking here and there switching this stuff around, the AI denoiser is absolutely cooked, it stably crashes no matter what I try. Pure garbage stability in 2024, never had issues with Octane denoisers before until now

I should try standalone at this point

AI denoiser doesn't seem to work properly too. I have a scene right now with very bright spots + glare turned on in post-process. On one of the frames one of the flares goes overly bright and basically covers the whole IPR after denoiser is applied, but without it, it looks fine.

I will have a look, but generally it is easier if you supply us with a scene of the problem. Things like that may generally be a core issue imo.

I saw somebody complaining about the denoisers too in other channels, so I guess most of these are core issues introduced in 2024. I'll try to export a scene for that to take a look

BTW can those crashes and stuff be also related to Windows 10 updates? This year windows updates were terrible, most of them not installing properly and for the first time I experienced BSOD when rendering in IPR (only with octane though). I installed windows updates 2-3 times this year after which I couldn't boot up properly, had to recover and try again, even now I have one security update that just won't install, such bullshit

It is possible, issues with corrupt OS files can also produce BSOD. But I can't be 100% sure... Please also try export the ORBX and have a look at how standalone behaves with the denoiser.
You could try the following for windows to scan the OS file system:
and another for the windows update:
Code: Select all
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
**You shouldn't need to, but in case I would just backup important files. This is just more of a disclaimer
