As I mentioned on the other thread to you, we can't reproduce the crash with the denoiser - but may be a standalone issue. Do you get a crash there with your scene?

As for ACES, you shouldn't really have to do anything special. Use the defaults and if you are using OCIO then choose the appropriate role when saving out your PNG or PNG 16bit through ROPS. Such as:

Code: Select all

color_picking
Color spaces / Output / Output - sRGB
etc.
That should give you the same result if you are using the view transform for IPR such as "ACES: sRGB"

I guess if you don't crash might be a core issue then, I used the previous 2023.1.2.0 and didn't have this error at all.

Something wrong with denoisers in this version. Using them causes "crashes" on my end, sometimes IPR just freezes and I need to restart Houdini. Might be a core issue I don't know, I hope it will be fixed in the next build.

We did try on our ends but we can't reproduce the crash with the denoiser. But according to Octane 2024.1 Alpha3, there are some bug fixes related to denoiser.
2024.1 Alpha3 Houdini plugin is still in development, but it shouldn't be too long. Hopefully some of the bug fixes in Core will fix your problem.

Wanted to point out that environment medium doesn't work in Octane for Houdini plug-in since forever. I don't know what's the idea behind it, but turning it on brings some fake fog effect with no depth, nor interaction with lights unlike I saw how it works in Blender for example. I am pretty sure it's broken.
