I don't know, but it seems that when you import old materials, before the implementation of Color space on maps, instead of converting to the same gamma that was used, it applies sRGB 1 to everything.
is this correct?

Hi samsue,
Try switching to "Linear sRGB + Legacy gamma".

yes, that is what I am doing! But it is very nice for me that I have a big library of materials that I made myself... I have to open it and resave it, because when I import it, it comes with the wrong values for the gray maps as rough

Looks good, yes.. I'll look into it. The volume won't probably match Octane, but it would be better that the current point cloud

In the meantime, here is the current version with 3dsMax 2023 support:
