BUG:
Transmission color doesn't show up in the transmission pass (interactive viewpot) when using Universal Material. With Diffuse-Material it works as usual.

builds past V4 will require "OctaneRender® Enterprise All-Access Annual Extension"
https://home.otoy.com/render/octane-render/purchase/ and choose "Upgrade" ($200/year)
This was the FAQ I was looking for and no where to be found - put this above as the first FAQ if you don't want confused old users
- BTW I would have bought it during black friday or earlier if I knew this was it - otoy you are trying so hard to shoot yourself in your foot - so many people left octane because of stuff like this.. people waiting for features you only now made possible are already at redshift if they needed them..I know so many people who have the talent, and are so angry that they left for fstorm and redshift, that's a serious loss on your side, like properly angry, even people who supported octane since it's erly days, and probably wouldn't even exist anymore if it wasn't for them

I mean, 2018.1 is really great so far, and finally is going where we expected it to, so better to jump into hyperdrive and overproduce everything

I did buy it yesterday, figured out the above option should be it, after reading a few pages of people comments - I mean there was even a notice that said to make sure to check out the Demo - and I was like, why are you saying this, I've been using every last beta since 2007. why are you telling me this - is this the thing I need

So again - you are now forcing us to pay subscription?
I mean.. OK, how much is it going to be next year - 690$?
I do like the fact I can use it on other apps, like houdini, and maybe after effects, so I'm cool with it so far, and definetely waiting for unreal engine update

I don't like the renting model too and would prefer a maintenance model like Autodesk has or iToo. Pay for a year support with latest updates. Next year pay again but the license you use is your own.
At least I can still open the files once leaving to another render engine which won't be possible if you opt out from Creative Cloud or Autodesk renting (if you've chosen it).

200$ bugs is a very fair amount and not even a day of paid work for a tool you use every day to make a living. For hobbyist people there are other options.

I dont get it, whats the difference between this version and the OctaneRender® for 3ds max® v4.02.1 - 6.15?
I only see similarities:
- both have lost the "test" ending (so they should considered stable?)
- both have the material editor lag/crash reported

I tested this one but can't really work because of the object subselection modify lag and sudden crashes after material editor use. (max 2019, nvidia 419.35, 2x rtx 2070, win 10)
Can somebody tell me the latest stable version that works with 419.35?

tnx
Hi Boris,
this is 2018.1 section, It's not V4.02.1 - 6.15.
Said that, changes of the 6.15 version, from 6.14 here:

well, in 3dmax vertex paint works, that vectron thing, I guess phoenix fd (didn't manage to make it tho), apparently rtx support (supposed to be faster with rtx gpus).. conversion seems better .. well I felt it was a really great update so far, but just keep a lookout on how long the discount for the subscription is, you probably don't need anything urgently now if you didn't before .. and with sub you get access to all other dcc plugins.. so I guess it could work out

BTW I didn't get an answer, anyone know so is the next year subscription gonna be 680$ or whatever it is..?

..yeah I actually was only on 2018.1 updates so I don't know what differes to 4, seems like octane is going forward finally

BTW why are all of my monitors slowing down if I'm not using the display GPU to do any rendering? .. I have it set on pcie 1x slot because of the PCIE extender, but still it slows down quite a lot without having to work anything - why is that?

- also I found this refreshing of every 3dsmax window that is opened, blinks out each window, and goes around, and that refreshing might take like 10 minutes sometimes - not sure if autosave triggers it, anyone else with this?

Same. The workaround right now is if it starts doing that, Hit Ctrl+Alt+Dlt (yes really) and wait about 10-20 seconds on that blue screen that shows up. Then click cancel and usually all the flashing/grayed out areas are ready to go again.
