Yes, I can reproduce this problem here. It seems that now Octane 2018.1 doesn't provide a white default texture when the file is not available in a texture node. This has broken some of the Octane lights features. I'll fix it for the next build.

In the next plugin release, I can add a plugin build for this Houdini version if you are still using it, but if possible you should try to update Houdini to one of the latest two H16.5 production builds available, or of course if possible to H17.

XB2 ? Please can we have a new compile version? RC1 is on most of plugs I know RC2 was just release but could we have the update on the RC2 then???

I'll try to release a new plugin build with this latest RC2 core later this week. I was waiting for it for a new release because it fixes some critical issues reported with the RC1 core.

The Octane light issue while working in blackbody mode has been fixed for the next build, that we'll release tomorrow. Now the blackbody mode has the same "Use distribution texture" found in the texture mode to apply a texture/IES file to the blackbody lights.
