Hi neonZorglub,

Thank you for the new release

But diffuse filter pass is broken now and has shadows and shading, seems like it is using some kind of AO or similar effect

Update: this pass shows shading when you have metallic material in your scene, or mix material with diffuse/glossy and metallic

Hi coilbook,
Thank you for your scene.
I may have the motion blur working with FP for the next version.
Thanks

Hi,

It appears displacement is not working. Objects with displacement materials disappear from render window if displacement is active.

Can anyone else confirm?

Worked fine in 3.x versions.

Hi WhaleHunter,
It still works; but the 'Enable displacement' checkbox in Render settings may not update the changes correctly.
(eg, with the new Percistency mode, that can keep the materials in memory)
- You can force an update with the 'Rebuild scene' button in the viewport,
- or disable the Persistency mode (Global settings,/Main settings tab / Octane scene persistency: Clear all nodes on render)
Thanks for reporting this issue

Hi neonZorglub,

Seems it behaves differently between v3 and v4. We have investigated further and identified that the ”missing” displacement material geometry had displacement values of zero. works in v3 with value zero, but disappears in v4.

Thanks.

Hi octane team,

Can someone tell me which settings do I need to turn on or off to get rid of that annoying scene evaluation?
There is a HUGE difference between evaluation speed in 3ds Max plugin and Standalone

In SA you just select render target and bam, it is rendering already, meanwhile in 3ds max you need to wait 10 min before rendering will finally starts

Material editor also is really slow and laggy

Benefits of GPU rendering are interactivity and real time adjustments of materials, lights etc, and with current slowness of Octane for 3ds Max all those benefits are useless

Hi Dom74,
Here Octane subscriptions option:

OctaneRender Studio Subscriptions - (monthly) - $20 /Month < you subscripted this
OctaneRender Studio - (annual) + 1 Year All-Access - *$179 /Yr (*Black Friday discount included in price)
OctaneRender Studio Enterprise (1 Year) Octane All-Access - with access to future Octane releases that include NVLink and Vulkan-RTX hardware acceleration - *$539 /Yr (*Black Friday discount included in price)
OctaneRender Studio Enterprise (3 Years) Octane All-Access - with access to future Octane releases that include NVLink and Vulkan-RTX hardware acceleration - *$1,139 /3 Yrs (*Black Friday discount included in price)

Octane All-Access provides ‘all you can eat’ access to the industry’s largest ecosystem of integrated DCC plugins collected in OctaneRender Studio (starting in Q1 2019) - including Maya, Cinema 4D, AutoCad, Revit, Houdini, Blender, LightWave 3D, Sketchup, 3DS Max, Adobe After Effects, Nuke, and Unity - as well as the ORC cloud rendering service.

OctaneRender® Studio Subscriptions have the following limitations compared with a full (purchased) license:
Use of the software is available only while online, connected via the internet to the Octane licensing server
A maximum of 20 GPU’s are available for rendering (4.00 or higher)
Subscription licenses may not be used with non-subscription licenses (i.e. purchased licenses)

Thank you

Out of core feature doesn't work, I have a scene in which Geometry+HDRI eat about 4GB of VRAM, then I'm adding 5 of 16k textures and get 3ds max crash after starting render
