I think it is something to do with volume scattering tab.
I hope you guys can do a quick fix since now we still cannot use volume denoising because of volume color issues and have to go back to RC2 .
Hi coilbook,
I tested changing the scattering color, going down toward black, the outputs are same for RC2 and RC4, in max and stand alone..
Your changes could come from the density and the Phase texture, I see in your screenshot that you changed it..
If you see different results with the exact same scene, please let us know.
Thanks.
Hi
I see that in one of the images density is changed by 10.
But the image with the purple rectangle nothing was changed. You can clearly see how much darker clouds are and the purple rectangle in the RC4 build. it's like light does not scatter through anymore creating a dark center

I attached the scene with some clouds. If you still cannot see the difference I will send you a full scene.

I attached the same scene rendered with rc 2 and rc4 There is a big difference, much darker in rc4

thanks

Hi coilbook,
Thanks for the sample, I could see the difference.
This comes from a fix in Octane RC3, correcting the behavior of the AO distance of the Direct Light kernel.

Thanks,

Hi,

I'm working on a 2 yo scene, everything works fine when I'm rendering it but denoising doesn't work ! (I did a "convert all")

Am I missing something ?

Thank you in advance :)

P.S. : I have last geforce drivers and denoising is working on new scenes :)

Hi But then if my AO must be set to 0.01 from now on then I will have a flat looking scene without dark spots like AO had with a distance 3 and up Thanks

Hi coilbook,
this issue will be probably solved in RC6.

Thank you! Also would be nice to have two AO one for the scene another one for volumes.

Hi neonZorglub,

Thank you for the update!
Finally UDIM seems to work as it should

What has happened with texture compression feature? It was a great way to save VRAM in our projects
