Thanks again to you otoy/octane people to manage the support of Cinema 4d R20!
For me its not transparent, why they (MAXON) changed the plugin architecture structure – the "old" PLUGIN insertion workaround (on mac) worked very well.
R20 offers indeed some nice features (extended import/export functionality, node editor very similar to octane). The ProRender could be a Octane competitor (I like octane much more).
Take your time. We all are excited and looking forward.

My understanding, (I forget where I read this a few months ago, unfortunately), is that the old plugin architecture(s) was very, "wild west," letting developers implement their tools with few restrictions or standards. This is great for making plugins easier and faster to develop, but it's also makes it much more likely that the plugins will have conflicts with other elements and/or will break when there's an app update. So basically it's a trade-off between broader, faster third party development, and a more stable, reliable tool set as the core app continues to change and grow. I'm not surprised, as we've seen C4D go from the feisty, upstart, underdog scrambling for market share, to one of the main players in professional 3D production.

It was for new level of development. Totally understandable! But It caused to make a lot of revisions on plugin codes. Otherwise it was not possible to compile old codes.

anyone else uses short-term license version of C4D? looks like I'm forced to r20, with no option to going back to r19...
so the R20 version in any status will be a lifesaver for me
