Curious to know if you ever got this working? I've been debating trying out shadow.tech and being able to use Octane would be a huge plus when I am on the road.

The non-render farm version of Octane isn't meant to run in a VM or work with a remote cloud service (as per the EULA). Unfortunately, this restriction has to be enforced due to persistent efforts to illegally rent/share/split a single purchased Octane licence through remote machines and VMs.
There is a straightforward legal path for cloud providers to offer octane remotely as a live stream, as well as provide render farm support, through the UBL/RNDR system we are adding to V4 this year (and are testing now with 3rd party cloud partners such as pixel plow).

Is there any scope for this to be resolved for Shadow in the future? They aren't a render farm and every machine is isolated as to just provide the same experience as having a decent local machine that you can take anywhere with you. They aren't in the business of rendering so I can't imagine they will be looking to provide users with Octane, but rather simply allow users to use their own personal Octane license on their Shadow machine remotely.
I totally understand that it was necessary to avoid piracy issues but is there no way that this can be avoided with the login system for single user licenses?
I actually thought this was going to be a huge game changer for me as I could then continue working on modelling and stuff while Octane renders on my remote machine (with the files dropbox synced back to my home machine). Being a freelance generalist is crazy expensive with all the software licenses and maintenance fees (like a grand a month in outgoings before rent and bills and any hope of profit) so any of these small wins to claw back a little time here and there are a huge deal to guys and gals like me. Plus it was going to be so awesome to be able to work at another studio without having to use a machine that isn't set up for me and the way I work. Imagine just being able to turn up, log in and all my apps, plugins and scripts are just there really to go and with a 1gbps internet connection for receiving plates and assets and sending dailies.

I agree with noisyboyuk. They are not a renderfarm, just a high rig pc that you stream to, if you were to research a little bit closer into what they do, you can see that is not the same as Pixel Plow.

I'm also a Shadow PC user and I'd like to echo the frustrations of the other users in this thread. I'm in a similar boat to noiseyboyuk and this seemed like a real game changer for me, I really hope a solution can be found for this. It's been a few months since the last reply and I don't suppose a workaround has been found?

Hey guys!
Any update on that?
For Apple user, Shadow.tech is a great solution, Octane is only running on Nvidia card and as you know Nvidia and Apple are in conflict for some reason.
I'm using an eGPU sometimes but during travelling this is not the best solution ...
Are you guys have any intention to allow access to shadow.tech ?
Is there any licence you're selling today who allow using octane on this kind of remote PC?
Thanks Ahead
