Hi,
Yes, I suppose that these kinds of core issues could be better followed in the main forums. A test scene to reproduce the problem (in .orbx format if possible, to check it in Standalone) could help a lot. I don't think that something like that could be a plugin issue ...
Thanks,
-Juanjo

Hi po-mapio,
From the screengrab it seems that you have a problem installing the Octane plugin. If you can see the shelf but nothing works the problem can be related to the PATH variable configuration in the houdini.env file, the plugin version (if it doesn't match your Houdini version) or a problem with Octane itself in your system (drivers issues, for example)
1) Check if Octane Standalone 3.08 RC3 works on your system. If it doesn't work, please update your NVIDIA drivers to the latest ones.
2) Check that you are using the right plugin build for your Houdini version. In your case, for Houdini 16.5.378 you must use the "Octane_3.08.0.9_Houdini_16.5.378_Win64" plugin.
3) If Octane Standalone 3.08 works on your system but the Octane plugin still doesn't work, check the PATH variable configuration in your houdini.env file. It must point to the plugin folder, "bin" directory. For example, if you have the plugin folder in the E disk:
PATH = "E:/Octane_3.08.0.9_Houdini_16.5.378_Win64/bin;$PATH"
Thanks,
-Juanjo

Hi,
I found a bug. I usually like to create my own render target because it gives me more control. If I create my own render target and add an HDRI to the environment texture then if I try to adjust the imager, the render keeps restarting.
If I use the ready made rendertarget, that doesn't happen.
I'm attaching a file for you to check.
regards
Rohan

This issue has been fixed for the next plugin build.
Thanks for reporting it!

First, we need the final production-ready build of the Octane 3.08 release, but Octane 4.0 is coming

This node can be used to convert any Octane procedural texture to a raster or image texture type, that can be used for example with the displacement node that only accepts these kind of raster texture maps.
Updating the documentation will be my next task after releasing the final 3.08 plugin build and finding a final solution to fully support the OSL nodes GUI and input pins parameters in the VOP nodes.
Thanks,
