I tested your issue on 4.39 and 4.38, running an empirical tests (manual stopwatch..) with a 300mb files;
I did not find any big differences like yours and no problems with isolate_selection.
Maybe it depends on some options in Render Setup.
Could you kindly compare your issue using 4.38 and 4.39 with the same Render Setup?

Paride
Compared with 4.38 and 4.39. All Render setup is the same.
'Enable Extra Log' is off, all all V1 support is disabled.
The 4.39 is slower x5-x10 times.

Hi Coilbool,
There might be too many log at the moment; Please try to turn off 'Enable Extra Log' in Trouble Shooting tab of Global preferences..
Also make sure all V1 support is disabled..
I hope this will help
I will check other potential performance issues that might have been introduced recently..
Thanks
thanks I send link to Paride with the scene. Hopefully you can look at it too

Hi Paride,
were you able to get my scene? i sent it to you in a private message. If you did not i i will rensend you the link.
I will also test mb for liquids today.
Not sure how to do this :: "ok,
Could you kindly test your CUDA error by exporting your scene to orbx too? "
Seems like 4.39 is even worse with octane viewport. It's been getting slower and slower since version 3. Please try it on my scene I sent you Thank you

HI guys,
I made a test scene to share.
there is no forest pack, volumes, phoenix etc .. In the scene.
A simple medium / small size scene.
I don't understand what happens with 4.39, because I have not any strange lacks, so I would like to identify the element that causes this issue.
All options like extra log, v1 support etc .. are unchecked.
I also saved it in zip .rps file for 4.39 and 4.38.
I tested this scene on my laptop (i7 16GB gtx 1070), so not a workstation, and I did not find any differences between 4.38 and 4.39 about evaluation time and render.
I think there is some element that when in the scene, it generates this issue.
If you do not have issues with this scene, you could add step by step some element around your usual workflow and see if it creates the reported issue.

Paride

OK
4.39 fixed phoenix mb !
Your scene works fine so there is something in our scenes that make new version very slow.
Version 4.38 - 32 seconds to open octane viewport
Version 4.39 - 9 min 20 seconds seconds to open octane viewport
I just emailed you my scene so there is definitely a bug in 4.39 that makes old scenes open very very slow making rendering 10 times slower per frame
i attached the video with 4.38 version and how fast it is and 4.39 usually stuck with mo response

UPDATE:
seems like bug is connected with amount of mesh in the scene and time it takes to evaluate. We deleted all objects in the scene except car wheels (instanced wheels total 15 mil polys) it takes 4.38 - 5 seconds to evaluate, it takes 4.39 version 2 min 40 seconds Times go down when more mesh/items is deleted. Looks like textures do not affect it.
Also for ver 4.39 isolating object does nothing. having one objects in viewport or the whole scene takes the same amount to open
hopefully it helps.

There seems to be a bug if you have multiple phoenux fd grids for multiple fires
it takes a long time to open octane viewport with multiple sims if it can even open. But each sim opens in less than 3-4 seconds
