The Attached picture shows an alternate version of it´s colour scheme. Just my suggestion for the upcoming 2.5 :geek:
The sample image of the note node states that you can change its color. So you should be able to make the note node any color you want.

I would love to see that node having a grey gradient in the header, similar to all other nodes.

Thanks!!

Did ies lights make it in or will that be 2.5?

also, can you shed some light on the new render kernel? What is it? I'm guessing you mean we can choose between direct light, path tracing, and the new one? How does it differ? Or is it more of an update to the current ones to fix some issues?

Quote from radiance on page 1

"So besides those, we also have the new 'note' node, so you can document your macros and scenes, aswell as IES and image texture distributions and watt/efficiency inputs for area lights/emitters support, which roeland has already shown in another thread."

So yes it looks like we will be able to play with IES lighting on friday.

Does the new render kernel include that promised MLT-like engine?
That MLT-thing would replace the classic pathtracing, as it can be seen as it´s successor, right?

The new render kernel will allow you to render more difficult light scenarios, but we will very likely also keep the path tracing kernel, because it has it's advantages, too.

And just to clarify: The upcoming release does not contain the new render kernel.

Cheers,
Marcus

I've always felt like the panels on the right side get really hard to read when everything is broken open -- especially materials. It's hard to instantly see where one material end and another begins. I would suggest either a dark gray bar between items in the list, or maybe a little more separation.

The last version of Octane has been great. Way fewer crashes than I was usually getting, and the speed is amazing. Any further improvements to render speed in 2.45?

I would say my biggest issue is with fireflies. Is that something we'll always have to deal with, or is something being planned to get rid of that problem?
