Wow, Thanks for the patronising post - I have been involved in post for fifteen years - we have a vray workflow planned, tested and budgeted for but the speed increases and unbiased workflow that GPU brings (which cuts rendering time by months for our requirements : a hard surface movie) are close enough to fruition to warrant examination.

I think the plan is for beta to be out this weekend in line with the Feb commitment.
Although it would be a little disappointing not to meet this I would be ok with another week if it meant better quality.
It wouldnt be good to release something that is below standard now that people are paying for it.
I see about 60 people have already done so.

Often in R & D works, things don't go as well and as fast as expected. Nvidia has a big structure, and they also have delayed their device release. If a software is released very soon, people rant about bugs. When is is released a bit later, it's about waiting time...
It is difficult to please everyone

We are intending to get the beta out within a few days. It might be very early March before it hits though. It is very close so stay tuned.

So..um...Whats the difference between the paid beta and the demo beta please?

The beta will be paid for, there is also the demo version that you have access to at the moment(that is free), If you buy the beta at the discounted price, you will be paying about half of what you will pay if you wait for verison one.

There will be two builds available.

1) Demo - Allows a user to test Octane Render without having the ability to save scenes nor output images in a variety of image formats. This will not necessarily be the most up to date build but allows users to ensure it works on their hardware and to get a feel of the power of working in Octane Render.

2) Beta - Only users who have purchased a beta license will have access to Beta builds. These builds will have the ability to save and load scenes and will be updated as new features and bug fixes are implemented.
