IMO it is wasting your time with current version of SU plugin - we have to have a fully rebuilt UI, standalone like with all functionality of the Standalone. My advice for now is - export your SU scene with SU plugin to orbx/ocs and open it in the Standalone and render your final scenes.
Problem is then why did I pay so much more for the added plugin? I could do that BEFORE without a plugin. Also, have you SEEN the crappy interface for the standalone? It's a nightmare. I think I've gone back in a time machine to the early days of renderman. Virtually zero interface for setting up animation, effects, adding materials, etc..

Node editors (and everyone has them) are notorious difficult to use as each has their own "language" and you have to learn each and every idiosyncrasy. I know they're the fad, but they pretty much suck as a quick interface to get things done. You literally have to LIVE in the app for weeks on end to figure it all out, then you come back 6 weeks later and have to learn it all over again.

I was a top user of Vue (e-on had me write a book) and it took me months to figure out their node editor in a basic way, an there was only 1 user in the world I could identify who really knew the ins/outs of it. KeyShot does it right by allowing folks a super easy UI with a node editor under the hood (like Vue did as well). That way you could use the software to get meaningful results without having to learn the node editor and then 'dive in' when you wanted to.

That's why Octane has all the plugins. People can use software they know (C4D, Modo, SU, etc..) to provide the UI then just render using the engine. The Standalone is clearly an after thought and not meant as a UI for mainstream rendering (even though it may be used as such).

Don't get me wrong, I entered vertexes by command-line in the early 80's and have done my share of programming as well (Python plugins for Vue, Mind Mapping software) so I'm no stranger to tech, it's just that I don't want to spend all my time learning an arcane system when there's clearly a better way.

To export to Standalone use EXTENSIONS > OCTANE > EXPORT to .ocs/.orbx

Are you using SketchUp 2015 64-bit and the latest STABLE release of the plugin?
