I have exactly the same problem: the smoke doesn't look good enough. It looks more flat and fake rather than the original render.

petrpolyakov,
This is what i can do with your scene. "Use 3rd party shader" activates the sampling of TFD shaders. So you can get more similar results as TFD viewport/output. Otherwise try to do with Octane Volume Gradient.

Hello
Have you checked Casey Hupkey NAB 2016 2nd presentation : at 21min he goes through the new Octane volume features with TFD.
he gets a pretty good result by using emission tex & volume gradient in the VOLUME MEDIUM attributes (as oaktar mentioned eralier)
Nevertheless, in Casey's demo, he displays the VOLUME STEP LENGTH feature in the Kernel window to finetune the rendering. But this feature does not show up with me.
I have Octane 3.00 R1.1 + C4D Studio + Commercial version of TFD
Any clue what I could have missed ?
thx
Chris

This has been changed during Octane3 beta process.
"Volume step length" is now a Volume medium node attribute.

Thx Calus !!!
I had just found the VOLUME STEP LENGTH in the Volume Emission Editor....
sorry needs more practice !
Nevertheless, I did a rough test following Casey 's NAB presentation and it works fine

What kind of answer do you expect with such a post?

Try to decrease the
Volume Step Length to a very small value — around
0.1 or even lower.
