How is the price of hardware relevant in any way? And even if it were (which it's not), maybe I've already got a bunch of cards? With a little luck I get 3-4 GTX 780 of ebay for about the same price as a license.
If we are missing something in between these two options, we're open to feedback.
Yes, slave licences. It's been requested for years.
Thanks for this input Once subscriptions are out, we will see what we can do here.

Hi Goldorak,
I would also be very interested if there is any news on the slave options and when version 3.1 will be released. I just set up two PCs, both with two graphic cards, and now I need to decide if I buy a second standalone license or if the new options will be released soon.
Have fun and it would be great to hear from you,
Lenny

some information would be needed, sooner rather than later as there's not possible to make informed business decisions based on "maybe", "we'll think about it" etc.
As a customer the alternatives starting to get plentiful in the gpu rendering market:

Redshift
Fstorm
Furryball
Cycles4D
Nvidia iRay
Thea
Arion
Maxwell - v4 got gpu support
Indigo
Arnold - gpu support is coming according to Marcos Fajardo.

Many includes 2-3 free nodes with every license and most offer nodes at a significantly lower price compared to a full license. As far as I know, none of them has an arbitrary limit to the number of gpu’s you can use either..

If no news, or from the customer's perspective, bad news:

How do I transfer my credentials to someone else if I sell my copies of Octane? If I sell all of them I can just change the login email, but let's say I want to keep one?

Unfortunately you are probably right.

We've rolled out $20 subs for standalone + plugin. We are looking at rolling out a slave license sub for around the same price next, and are considering a bundle sub option to follow that: a dual node license + plugin + ORC with a discount over getting them all separately.

"Sub" stands for Subscription only model ?

What about actual perpetual render slave licenses ?
