yes thanulee, I had the same problem (don't remember if it was 3.xx or 2.25) : I made a stupid very high poly count tree.... and the render failed. But I can't really say it is an octane bug.... too much polys :-)
If you can't reduce poly count, try to cut your mesh in two objects and make two proxies.
( tree exemple : high poly count trunc and branches, one proxy, high poly count leaves one proxie, then parent the leaves proxy to trunc proxy...)
If you want to reduce loading in memory time, set your proxies to "original" before rendering
