I had the same problem with some exterior scenes. What I did there was slighty adjusting the gamma value of the HDRi, but I dont know what the equivalent for the sun & sky would be.

Thanks brasco, I never thought to go so low on the GI clamp! It definitely makes a difference, but I'm still confused as to why its not the default behavior and we have to lower it so much..

When you render the sky in the other renderers how does it render below the horizon? Black? If yes, then that's the reason. The way how the sun expression is set up in your scene, the sun is a few degrees below the horizon. If you look at this 360 panorama, you can see that in the new daylight model emits a lot of light below the horizon:

As a test, I put a large black large plane underneath the room, blocking most of the light from underneath the horizon. I had to bump up the exposure from 6 to 40, confirming the presumption that most of the light was coming from below the horizon and hit the ceiling and then got spread around in the room, killing most of the contrast. I rendered a smaller resolution since I've got only a tiny GPU in my laptop and this is how it looks like at 1024spp:

-> When the lighting looks different between various renderers, then usually the lighting is different. I.e. you should try to find out what the difference might be. In this case the lighting comes 100% from the sky, since the sun has set already, and you should compare those between the various renderers and try to make them look the same.

@abstrax, thanx, what are your GI clamp settings on that one? Is it the same if you try 10-100-1000 or is it still washed out?

I left them at 100, but setting them to the default 10000000 doesn't make a difference either. GI clamp is a hack that should be used when necessary. In this case it's not necessary, because everything are just diffuse materials.

It's not I just downloaded it and checked..
Check the geometry, everything is in a box/room..

Out of curiosity: Could you render a 360 panorama of the sky/environment in Octane/Thea/Corona? Would be interesting to see the difference. Thanks.
