A bug about render region that has been around for some time now but it would be nice to see it fixed.
1- Render something, no render region.
2- Pause the render.
3- Change something, like a material property
4- Draw a render region.
5- Unpause the render.
Bug: it will re-render the whole image for a second, then render only on the render region. It shouldn't affect the parts outside the region, it should have stayed as it was.

No you don't.

I don´t see any difference in this version? The material editor showed correct result when 3Ds Max Gamma was enable in 2.15?
3Ds Max Gamma enabled + tonemapping enabled = wrong gamma in Octane Viewport.
3Ds Max Gamma disabled + tonemapping enable = correct gamma in Octane Viewport, wrong gamma in material editor.
Nevermind, I tried and it works correct if I use 3Ds Max Gamma 2,2 and Tonemapping.
Materials in the material editor looks correct and if I use "Linear" response the rendering looks correct too.
What I do notice is that the response curves are not updated to match the new gamma settings.
For instance, when using the response curve "Agfacolor_Futura_100CD" there´s double gamma on plugin version 2.16.
I´ve attached 2 screenshots showing this. All settings are identical, I´ve only installed different versions.

yeah that's what I meant by "i can't use tonemapping when 3dsmax gamma is set" in earlier posts. as far as I tested I only can use the non-linear curves when disabling max gamma or set it to 1. is this the right behavior jim?

So if i understood correctly, plus from what i tested a bit:
- Leaving max gamma at 2.2 and tonemapping at 2.2/linear doesnt affect the image it just shows the material browser correct and we got a linear workflow
- Leaving max gamma at 2.2 and tonemapping at 1.0/any LUT is the proper option for LUTs?

Hi Jim, I don´t fully understand?
Everything works nicely except the response curves/LUTs. They are not using the correct gamma compared to earlier versions?
Or do I have to chose between using 3Ds Max Gamma 1,0 and LUTs or 3Ds Max Gamma 2,2 and Linear from now on?

Those film response curves have burned in gamma, you need to set octane's imager gamma to 1.0 when using them, 2.2 for linear response only.

Yes, the octane imager gamma is at 1.0 and I still get double gamma.
If I set 3Ds Max gamma to 1,0 the material editor previews are completely useless but Octane is acting as it should. If I set 3Ds Max gamma to 2,2 the material editor previews are as they should but only linear response is useful, all the other responses get double gamma.
I really hope this gets fixed or I´m stuck at 2.13

ah i see, max's gamma settings now affect octane viewport in 2.16, that's why you get double gamma when max's gamma is set to 2.2.
i think turning off max's gamma is the only way to get rid of double gamma effects now.
and there's still a bug: when use tonemapping is turned on, and response is set to linear, the imager's gamma setting won't work at all.

Have you ever seen the images I posted for comparison with
the same standalone results?
viewtopic.php?f=80&t=52130&start=10#p261367
Do you mean it should be "fixed" in standalone? This is a wrong thread if so.
