At a guess I would say the vertex density is very high at the lip of the glass and is causing self shadowing at very low ray epsilon values. If you pull the label slightly away from the glass, you should be able to use a the higher ray epsilon value. You could also try increasing the scale of the scene 10x or 100x - it may resolve the issue. May I suggest packaging this scene up as an ORBX and submitting it to Otoy in the Octane Standalone 3 alpha 2 thread - since it will be a good case study for them to understand the challenges users face with ray epsilon.
