That detail level is insane! I was a bit confused when I saw this entry, because it really looked like it was composed of photos...but this...
...this is jaw-dropping. You better make sure the judges know about this behind the scenes thread or they might make the same assumptions I did!

I guess that in the near future quadcopter will be able to do all imaging on site with high quality imaging affordable in price ...and this job of yours will be much easier and time consuming with greater automation...
...every second you spent on this project pays it self...
You move boundaries..
If you have time you should make documentary movie about this project, if you are knowledge seeder

What camera you used and what lens?
Do you used Photoscan Professional?

gabrielefx, the camera is a cheap Nikon D3300, the lens is a versatile DX 18-200 f3.5. Photoscan is the Standard Edition. The software I used to do tethered shooting is called DigiCamControl, and it's free and OpenSource.
