In the environment editor I set the name, then choose Octane cube map.. the "create" button is greyed out..? How did this work?

You must select a background Image in the top and also give it a name.

Then the create button should be enabled

Very nice! been looking for a way to do this. Is there a way to hide the desktop entirely to evaluate the cube without the faint gray outline?

Use the slider to set the screen size into minimum.
