Wow! Nice find! Really smart trick you've discovered here, makes complete sense given its a physical render engine. I'm a big fan of anamorphic bokehs, so it's great to know they can be achieved in octane! I'd love to see this build into the camera options in v3, but this is a great workaround for now.
I tried using the scene you kindly uploaded, didn't seem to work for me - what version of cinema was it made in?

mm, You're right =DDD Guess it will be faster to try with my own file.. =)

..mind to give an advice how far to place that "custom hole"?
(maybe noticed already from Your tests what influence does distance make?)

I can export FBX? Then the camera will be there I think.
