It's interesting. I've always liked Blackmagic because they offered Resolve for free. And now Fusion. I am not doing any animation composting yet (I do mainly static arch viz) but I have been looking at Clarisse, which seems feature rich with good value. But now Fusion is hard to ignore for a small studio.
I hope Otoy takes a hard look at it.

For those desiring a Fusion plug-in it might be useful to let Blackmagic know you would be interested in that as well so maybe they can approach Otoy. When downloading the Fusion software they give you a generoious commenting section about how you intend or would like to use the software. I said it would be great to be able to use it with Octane.

Been playing around with Fusion and have been loving the speed and node based approach. I would also love to see an Octane Plugin for Fusion!
I started a discussion on the Blackmagic forums to try and make this happen. Would be great for all of you to post on there to start showing interest.

Looks like in the announcement for Octane 3 there is a plugin in the works for Fusion. We are switching to Fusion from After Effects currently, and we use Octane exclusively for 3D rendering and live action compositing. If anyone from Otoy or Blackmagic is looking for Beta testers for the Fusion Plugin, we would be very interested.
It's good to see there is development for Fusion.

Especially since now there is a Mac version (free beta) available. Any additional info on a Fusion plug in from Otoy? For instance would it work with the free version of Fusion or would one need the paid studio version?

The free version of Fusion does not allow the running of plugins, so if there was an Octane plugin for Fusion, you would need the paid version of Fusion to run it. I you are looking or a Fusion plugin, take a look at OctaneRender for Nuke.

Nuke is way beyond my budget and my need. But thanks for clarifying about the plug in limitation on free version of Fusion. Is Otoy In fact developing a plug in for Fusion Studio?
